I remember She Wolf peaking higher than Not Myselft Tonight and Your Body in Hot 100, plus outselling those two Xtina's singles combined. Besides, Shakira's She Wolf and Sale el Sol have sold way more than Xtina's Bionic and Lotus. She may not have star power in the USA, but I am pretty sure she will get more attention than Xtina.

Star power = viewers.
Sales =/= viewers
J.Lo for example, she has the star power to make every magazine talk about her. Same with Xtina.
Shakira doesn't have that power. Her music has sold more simply because her music is better. But that doesn't mean people are interested in her.
How many people in the US are willing to read a magazine story about Shakira? They are more willing to see pictures of Xtina eating burgers

People are totally underestimating the immense appeal that Shakira brings to the Latin community. I'm so excited to see her on the Voice. She'll do great. I just don't know how far her adorable feisty attitude will carry the show...

If they manage to brew drama between the coaches and have it catch the media's attention, it may certainly surpass the other seasons. I don't know who I'm going to cheer for. That kind of bores me. I want an enemy/someone unpredictable/drama. I want a preview with a pregnant Shakira losing it or something. Simon is useful because you know he'll be a massive dick. Britney was good for a few episodes because everyone was truly curious about her. Christina/Adam were good because you were always waiting for them to tell each other off. Nicki/Mariah beef, etc etc... makes a more engaging experience when your emotions get tied up.

The Voice doesn't have that "new show" appeal anymore. They might need to compensate for the curiosity wearing off. Maybe some new "Uh Oh! Blake slept with Shakira!" rumors will start appearing in the near future, and we can all hyper-analyze the show to see if there's inklings of truth there.

The first few episodes of the Battle Rounds may get a spike of interest, but to be honest, shows like this gain attraction from the actual talent and not the judges. Season 3 was the most consistently high rated season because they worked out the format and had the best singers they'd ever had.

That being said. Usher certainly brings more starpower to the panel than Cee-Lo, however, I don't see him holding longterm interest.

Shakira brings in less star-power than Xtina, but she does attract a whole different demographic. So that could go either way. She may be viewed as more likable to viewers, but won't make as many headlines or keep The Voice as visible in the news.
