Well, Apple nor Google are strong competitors in the desktop/laptop races, as Microsoft isn't a huge competitor right now in Mobiles. The mobile market is also a whole lot less fickle and a lot less profitable.

so they have about as much in common with each other as the server/car/console markets as well.

And additionally the smartphone market has only grown to being near this size in the last 2-2.5 years.

I think it's this. I think i'm wrong on calling his specs bad, idk much about that stuff other than memory,ram processors video cards and that's it

2GB DDR3 Ram?

949MB VRAM?

Iggie, please tell me you bought this for less than $250.

Edit: Well yeah, the first things you want to check are
1. Processor Speed
2. VRAM
3. Hard-drive storage size and speed (and even type)


4. I would say Memory is also to look out for, but really.. all you need is 4GB for daily tasks, and you can easily upgrade it for cheap.

When you buy a laptop, ALWAYS look out for the things you can't upgrade. And if they're upgradeable, think about the cost of the replacements/upgrades.

And honestly I only use Windows to ******* and play games, so most of the time I'm in Ubuntu.

My only gripe with Win 8 is that stupid fast startup feature wont let me open up my Windows partition in Ubuntu.

If all you're gonna do is watch YouTube, surf the web, and do basic things its fine.

Beyond that, yeah its pretty sucky. My computer I purchased in 09' is better.

But you can upgrade the RAM OR.. return it back and get a tablet instead for the same $200. Nexus 7?
