I only see ONE iconic song on that list. I'm not going to pretend BOMT isn't iconic cause it is, but Mariah has We Belong Together, Vision of Love, Fantasy, Honey, Touch My Body, and One Sweet Day among others.

BOMT is NOT more iconic than Vision of Love. BOMT did NOT inspire anyone to start a music career on first listen. VOL did, however.

Just because you don't know ANYTHING about VOL, doesn't mean it isn't iconic. Like someone else said, Beyonce and Christina (among others) cite THAT song as the reason they started singing, ALSO it introduced the melisma technique into the mainstream. ICONIC.

Anyway, I choose Mariah simply because she's impacted R&B and Pop. But of course, ATRL will say Britney. Mariah's more successful. And 'We Belong Together' pretty much has had more impact than anything Britney ever put out (besides BOMT). And that song was in Mariah's late 30s. Britney could/would NEVER. And isn't 2013 Mariah's 25th year since releasing her debut album? I honestly can't picture Britney still releasing music in 2024. Sorry.
