I wonder how long until physical singles disappear in Japan. It seems these days they're only bought by old guys so they can meet little girls at handshake events.
The DVD single had nothing on it except the PV. Which is just a bunch of trees and a baby breastfeeding. 20k is amazing. Utada her power.
Her last physical single opened with 38k and that was in 2008. Are you telling me if the single was released in a CD+DVD format it would do any better physically? Utada's albums sales have been cut in half since then (despite her recent release being a Greatest Hits album) so you can't tell me if even if she had released it as a normal single it would've done all that much better?
However even if it was the case it "only" sold 20k with a single CD does that not mean it was a hit? Koishikute has been out for 3 weeks and is staying strong in the Top 5 on recochoku ever since it's release (doing better than her previous #1 single's digital first week in it's 4th week). SN of course as well was a big hit as evidenced by it's performance on recochoku and iTunes. People need to realize the physical format is dying especially when it comes to solo female artists. I'm sure you already knew all this but I just needed to post this for blackout's dumb ass.
Go worry about Fading Generation and their comeback maybe if SM pulls some strings they can mop the floors on AKB48's next video set.
I understand Kumi stans are in a fragile state right now.
I was there when I first saw the first day sales of Single Collection Volume 2, and when HIAM plummeted down the charts and when I first listened to The Boys album. But it DOES get better, hang in there
