Anyways, new topic
What artists do you think have good songwriting and why?
Sia: Although it seems a bit copy and pasted, I love the imagery in Diamonds. Titanium is also one of the highlight songs of 2012. It's such a shame Sia will only find popularity in either writing songs for someone else or doing songs with David/other artists without her being in the music video - her looks do not take away from the talent she has.
Ester Dean: She has wrote a lot of my favorite songs: Turn Me On, Where Have You Been, and Rude Boy to name a few. She makes really catchy lyrics and I am looking forward to her going for her singing career.
Ke$ha (obviously): If there was a person who embodied catchy lyrics, Ke$ha would be that person. I also really like how even though she really has fun with her lyrics, she is still capable of doing "serious" songs. Maybe it's because I am a stan, but I just find most everything she writes to be amazing.

Did Ke$ha write all those non-dance-pop songs on her album (like Wonderland and Last Goodbye)? If so, she's a great writer.
And it's a shame about Sia. This video still slays:
The line "I saw girls falling hook line" Well, really all the lyrics from this song
I think Mother Mother (Ryan Guldemond specifically) is a really good songwriter. They really show some musicality in their work along with great lyrics. Also, their arrangements are almost always brilliant. That's why they're my fave
Just like me Course I do not have many songs to flood with. (Oh, I started writing sometime in 2011 I believe)
EDIT: Yes Adam, she is She almost never uses songs she didn't write herself (Old Flames is the only one I know of, but that's a cover and ha mother wrote it)
I think Taylor is one of the best writers in Pop music today.
Quote:
'Cause there we are again, in the middle of the night
We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah
Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much
And maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well
And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all too well
Quote:
Long were the nights when
My days once revolved around you
Counting my footsteps
Praying the floor won’t fall through, again
My mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You paint me a blue sky
And go back and turn it to rain
And I lived in your chess game
But you changed the rules everyday
Wonderin’ which version of you I might get on the phone, tonight
Well I stopped pickin’ up and this song is to let you know why
Quote:
And I'll go sit on the floor
Wearing your clothes
All that I know is
I don't know how to be something you miss
Never thought we'd have a last kiss
Never imagined we'd end like this
Your name, forever the name on my lips
So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe
And I keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are
Hope it's nice where you are
