I don't understand why some of you think the President needs to have security, but America's children don't.
The fact is criminals WILL get guns whether they are outlawed or not. At this point, we may need to start having county police servicing every public and private school. Either that, or there needs to be special-trained staff in every school who know how to handle a weapon in case of an emergency.

And that is all.

But that's just how I feel.

Nobody should, be we do. It is what it is. Society has fallen, and its not coming back.
It's considered "good" that college campuses have their own armed security officers, but its "bad" when we need to protect helpless kindergarten classrooms?
I'm sorry for getting passionate about this but some ya'll...

This is ridiculous. Why is guns such a big thing in this country? My goodness. I do agree that more security is good though.

But the fact of the matter is that teachers and schools shouldn't need armed guards. How ridiculous is that? It's like plucking the leaf off of a weed rather than uprooting the whole thing.
The heart of the problem lies in the fact that firearms are so easily obtainable in the US, or that the murder-sticks are even legal at all.
When we look to countries that have outlawed guns almost entirely (e.g. Japan) or have extremely strict gun control (e.g. The Netherlands, Germany), homicide rates are minuscule in comparison to America's.
The only thing that adding more guns into the mix does is add more guns.

Did you even read my post?
We shouldn't need to have house alarms because people shouldn't be robbing homes.
Women shouldn't need to be afraid of walking home at night and in the fear getting raped.
And children shouldn't need to go to school being afraid of getting SHOT UP.
But guess what? It's HAPPENING. And sitting around whining about how things "should" be isn't going to save the next kindergarten classroom from getting massacred. We need to deal with it as it is. Maybe we should ban guns, but that doesn't mean school officials don't need armed officials.
And this is not "adding more guns". This is adding more PROTECTION.

If guns were illegal (or if gun control was greatly increased), the fear of schools "getting shot up" would be vastly diminished, apropos to that graph I posted up there. Again, the root of the problem is the guns themselves, and the root is where the problem should be targeted.

The fact that some of you think outlawing something is going to make it go away.
Regardless of whether guns are banned, America's children need protection. We don't need to wait for this to happen again.

This is stupid. Who is to say, that the armed security won't do the same thing? A gun in ANYONE'S position is still dangerous, no matter who it is. A security officer may have a bad day or be mentally unstable, so they could go and shoot teachers and children as well. Like, where is the logic? When will America realise that the only solution is to basically prohibit guns for the majority of society? I guess the only people that have them should be police and the FBI really.

You just contradicted yourself. Security officers ARE police. So should police remain unarmed as well because guns are "too dangerous"?

It's not about making it go away. That's idealistic and stupid.
The current state of gun laws in America, frankly, makes things like the Sandy Hook massacre quite simple. It's an issue that obviously needs to be adressed.

And I understand that, yes, it needs to be addressed. But this is America, we have a democracy that made this most desirable country in the first place. This is not some flop country that changes its law overnight. First of all, hell will have to freeze over before Congress even decide to vote on altering the Constitution. And if it ever does happen, this is something that takes YEARS to go into effect.
In the meantime, you see all these shootings still occurring, why do we need to leave schools unprotected like deer hunting during open season?
What's preventing somebody tomorrow from walking up into a middle school and doing the same thing? Nothing.
Putting police offers in place will at least ensure parents that they're children aren't going to come out of school in a body bag.
Anyways, I'm done.

These "flop country" don't have mass shooting every month.
Most of these "flop country" are the proof that gun laws make a difference.

We do have gun laws, and we need tighter regulation, but it would be a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to have them outlawed completely without even pondering why we have the right to bear arms. I don't think some of you even understand why America's Founders put the 2nd Amendment in place to begin with.
When you live in a country that has the most powerful military and central intelligence in the world, then maybe you can understand why Americans are hesitant to give full control to the government over their only protection in the case of a tyranny coup d'etat.
Somebody living in Mexico or Philippines for example, don't have to worry about this because their governments are not overbearingly powerful.

I like how they didn't even mention the psychological aspect of gun control. Yes, we need stricter gun control, but we also need better medical treatment for people who are crazy enough to shoot up a school in the first place.
But okay, just throw more guns all over the place. That will fix things just fine.

I don't know how I feel about this. Although it may work, we see in the media every week of police officers overstepping their boundaries and doing literally insane things. Just this week, a guy was shot because a police officer thought he had a gun when it was a flashlight. We saw when one of the head police officers of NYC tell a ton of officers to treat all black people like animals.
While it'll be nice in nicer public schools, I'm not sure about putting officers in inner city schools and less funded schools.
How about America starts putting more money into education instead of doing this? This is gonna cost $40-60m and guess what they're probably going to cut from the budget to pay for this? TEACHERS.

You do realize most of the people perpetrating these mass shootings never displayed any clear symptoms of psychological disorder to begin with?

All because a couple strange stories pop up doesn't mean all cops are out to overstep their boundaries.
