It really would, and it would be the best of both worlds. She would, as you said, be secured into releasing future music and she would also be "our little secret", too.
Although, I must say that I don't think Marina will ever stop releasing music. She's written and produced her own tracks before, and I'm certain that she'll continue to do so even if she doesn't have a label to back her up anymore.
I also think that if 679 let her go, that a bigger label might snatch her up pretty quickly. She has potential, but the label has a huge part in how much success she can achieve. I don't think 679 is necessarily doing a bad job, because you can see that they are spending money on Marina whenever they can. They're just too poor to really give Marina the amount of support and promotion that she needs.
"Heartbreaker" will
hopefully change things, or make just enough impact to get the ball rolling.
