With Ke$ha.. The UK generally isn't here for comebacks. You have to be pretty consistent or at least have your name in the papers every so often for the public to keep up their interest. I still don't think Ke$ha is a household name in the UK.

The UK has class, Ke$ha comes off as trash - it's the image she portrayed when she first came out and when it worked for her for a moment she just ran with it. It's sad because Kesha has so much talent, her writing is brilliant; The Harold Song, DWTIME, Blind, etc. Although she's thickboned, her live shows are energetic and fun, and her voice is amazing. 80% of her fading is to blame on the fact that everybody who knows Kesha thinks she can't sing and she's always drunk. Well...
Lady Gaga shifted her image into a human rights advocate and sang all about discrimination and insecurities, and although it didn't sell as much as her first record, she secured herself a huge fanbase that fell in love not just with her music but with the person, the artist. Meanwhile Kesha is still making skanky party music. She has zero personality.

She was never here apart from a couple of single successes.

Which is why the Born This Way was not detrimental to her career in the long run.
