I don't know why everyone is shocked. Clearly Ke$ha is single seller and I think a 90k debut for her is good. If she has another slew of hit singles, I don't see why platinum would be out of reach.
I'm not surprised, to be honest. People were never really vested in KESHA herself, but rather the catchy music. This was evident with Cannibal. Her singles sell because they're fun and catchy, but she brings nothing more to the table. She doesn't have a legion of fans like Gaga does, hence she relies on the casual listener. Die Young was fun and catchy, but not anything smashing like Tik Tok. She needs strong singles to try and sell more.
I'm not impressed with the album at all. I wouldn't buy it solely because it's not as catchy as her first album.
