Yes it was an AMAZING performance, but it was overshadowed by the Kanye Taylor thing and nobody talked about.
The next day everybody was talking about the slave performance, every media outlet had it. Not to mentioned it outshined MJs performance with Nsync the next day (which was a award show comeback moment for him) The influence is still here. various shows, movies, artists, and singers still talk about it to this day. Its truly iconic and a staple in pop culture right along with "The Kiss" as well as the "meat dress".
