Here's some others:
Europop killed pop music's creativity. Back in the day, pop music was more varied and the beats were more diverse ( a mix of urban, pop-rock, bubblegum, etc). Its sad that now rappers are pandering to it (Flo-Rida, Nicki, Pitbull, etc.). I have alot of respect for Beyonce for not falling into that trend.

Xtina needs to go back to making ''black music''. Obviously, her voice doesnt translate well to dance-pop. Her voice is too ''gospel'' like. Its sad. She could have been the one to really re-invent and bring back R&B.

You could tell Britney was bipolar even before the breakdown IMO. The 55 hour wedding and her demeanor on the reality show were kind of telling. The warning signs were there

Gaga is a terrible songwriter/co-writer and live performer.

Pop stars who have their songs mostly written/composed for them by professional songwriters are entertainers, performers, singers or interpreters, but in no way artists.

The ammount of commercial success or numbers will lose their relevance with time, the only thing that will live forever is music, influence, legacy, creativity and actual talent - very unpopular opinion here on ATRL where people think that success and numbers make someone superior or legendary.

There are times when I think Stefani is using "Lady Gaga" to execute a multi-phase career version of the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust which will result in her killing off the character in a public scandal, followed by retiring from the spotlight. I find it hard to let go of the notion that this isn't all a project for her.

2. Britney won't return to her former glory until we stop accepting mediocrity from her.

3. Beyonce is such a flawless performer that it's almost emotionless and cold.

4. Despite the continued success, Pink peaked with Mizunderstood.

5. In terms of good to crap song ratio, Bionic was no different to some peoples faves albums. It just lacked a hit to excuse all that.

6. Adele's gimmick was that she had "no gimmick" and I found a lot of the positive comments about her "unconventional" appearance quite patronising toward her.

7. Rihanna is the popstar with the least secure future because she's completely reliant on others.

8. I find a lot of Justin Bieber's success to be smoke and mirrors.

9. Katy Perry's popularity as a popstar is grossly overestimated because of her Billboard success.

10. Gangnam style was a completely calculated marketing exercise.

Maybe because they have really huge influence and following, like my favorite band from the 60s - they flopped really hard (sold only 30 000 copies from their best album, because it was an experimental album way ahead of its time and audience was not ready for it), but still, they are legendary, while many artists who topped the charts in the 60s are almost forgotten now

Alot of Adele's success comes from the fact that she doesnt act her age. Frumpy, middle aged adults can connect to her music because of her image. Her matronly looks have definitely worked in her favor. She clearly is styled conservatively and less flashy on purpose. Actually, Amy Winehouse's music was more oldschool and Beyonce's 4 & Gaga's BTW all had more of a vintage feel than 21 but old people cant connect to Amy, Gaga or Beyonce's images. They can relate to Adele's because it is plain & about 0 sex appeal.

Im willing to bet money Beyonce will try to work with one of Adele's 21 producers.

Ashlee Simpson had great music.
