Taylor Swift - Red 1.459.000 WW, -1.2M from the US, 250k copies outside the US
But she sells more globally because most of what Rihanna did outside US came from UK. Even the argument that Rihanna did not have full week has little merit as "Red" was not even released in lots of countries the first 7 days.
Some kind of talks about the past about "Loud" and "Speak Now" are pointless. Its clear that "Red" is an album that appeals more WW with its more of a pure pop sound.
I guess The Lord should have priced her album 50 bucks or something in hopes of getting lousier sales in US so that she can finally be global.

Let's all agree that both TAYLOR and RIHANNA are global. And don't downgrade the level of success Taylor got outside the US because she clearly is doing great business internationally.
Why are people always criticizing her sales? Just congratulate the girl for practically matching talk that talk with less then a week of sales from certain markets releasing this album only a Year after her last which as it happens was also released a year after Loud. You can downplay Rihanna's album sales all you want but considering her over exposure, she's selling really well I think.

Sounds like Shakira. So honestly, yes. A moderately successful era, or even a flop era, can still be more global than a huge US era. To me all that "global" means is that their sales are spread fairly evenly around the world... they have a presence in several continents.
Thats silly. How can sales be spread evenly when US market is way bigger than any other one. As u can see even for Rih, she has her niche market which is UK - loud sold about 2 million copies there alone. Every artist has one of those. It's usually to do with their main genre. It makes sense for US to be Taylor's biggest market cus she's primarily country. If my fav can open with 1mil in US alone, then by all means i'll take the local tag. Its only used here on atrl n the logic behind is quite nonsensical.
disappointing sales, but she did very little promo in the US and no promo WW apart from that mess of a 777 tour. She could have done AMAs, EMAs, etc. for a much cheapr cost too
