On Rihanna's new album she's got songs like Jump and Nobodies Business which will be massive on urban radio AND pop radio when released. Where's Nicki's songs like that? Where's Nicki's songs like Rude Boy and What's My Name? (they both got #2 on urban radio).
There's a reason Rihanna does so well on urban radio. She releases very catchy songs that actually have synths and a melody, and they like it that she has massive mainstream smashes using their style of music.
Nicki got famous through hip hop, and the hip hop community made her famous, and now she is doing music that originated in mainland Europe in the 1980s, THAT's what pissed them off.
Nobody is saying she has to release pure hip hop all the time, but at least hip hop influences. Stuff like Love the Way You Lie or Super Bass or Girl on Fire or As Long as You Love Me is fine.
Girl of Fire might help her career. Even though it's a feature, this is what people wanted from Nicki. An urban song that's being successful in the pop world and even in Europe. Maybe she should try some of her own now.

I see what you're saying but unfortunately, Nicki and Rihanna are in very different situations. Even though Rih has an urban flare in a lot of her songs, especially on Unapologetic, in general she's still seen as a pop/mainstream artist and has always been. So she can straddle the line and Urban/Rhythmic will still accept her. With the "rapper" tag, Nicki has it much harder. Even if she raps hardcore the whole song but has a poppy chorus/bridge people will have a problem with it.
Also, I think Nicki's Urban material just hasn't been strong enough lately point blank. It doesn't even necessarily have to have the potential to crossover (and M4L did okay on Pop but was not a HUGE crossover), it just needs to be an AMAZING rap song. I still stand by the fact that she hasn't captured the magic and epicness that the rap tracks on her debut possessed, and that's probably the problem.

IA with you on Hell Yeah (I think that has potential to crossover actually) but I DO NOT SEE IT WITH THAT RATCHET ASS STRIPPER SONG.
I just wish her ass would stop with the dual mess. None of this matters/nothing from the Re Up will shine if she is still doing Marilyn Monroe
Someone at YMCM needs to tell her to sit down
VVV was the last hope for a smash from PFRR and she ****ed it up - she needs to just dedicate herself to the Re Up now.

I guess we shall see.

I just think it's not memorable overall. Like the only part that sticks with me personally is the "baby it's your world ain't it" and I think a big hit would need to be more...memorable. But I guess everyone else sees more in it than me.
I love Hell Yeah so much. I think Parker was actually a great addition and I don't know it stands out to me among her discography. I think people would enjoy it. As for IETS well, Urban is here for those ratchet songs.

It's a BITT part 2 and BITT did really well so. I love the beat.
And that's true. I like MM a lot and all but she can't do everything at once. She should just TRY to score at least 1 Urban hit from the Re-Up then not worry about anything else from this era, cuz she really needs to start fresh.
