Belinda left behind the Go-Go's with this gleeful bop about the foolish joy of young love, featuring a guitar solo from Andy Taylor of Duran Duran. If not for ClassicMainstream, it would have finished in at least the top thirty of this list. Sorry, Ace!
After mother Naomi's Hepatitis C diagnosis put the Judds on hold, Wynonna struck out on her own with this story song about a man who works overtime to provide for his wife. It was the first of three consecutive country #1's, as well as a minor crossover success on adult contemporary radio.
Wynonna's fourth album, The Other Side, was a major disappointment for the star, failing to go platinum and producing no top ten hits on the country chart. Fiery, fun lead single "When Love Starts Talkin'" peaked at only #13—about the number of places it lost on this countdown thanks to EJLQ8.
That other Gwen song that Fergie supposedly ripped off. Perhaps the album's weakest single, this fifth release from Love. Angel. Music. Baby. is still quite a groovy (and expensive-sounding) jam. With some unnecessary assistance from Slim Thug, Gwen drips over an Isley Brothers sample like her voice is weighed down by diamonds.
