He's right. I just went over to the site I order my Japanese CDs from, cdjapan dot co dot jp, and the deluxe edition is said to have a bonus disc with three bonus tracks.

I've heard the reason Japanese CDs get exclusive songs is because music piracy was a problem there long before it was anywhere else, what with them being so ahead of most of the rest of the world in terms of technology.
The Japanese record labels apparently started adding songs to track lists years ago as an incentive to potential buyers. And they've kept doing it since, I guess.
