"Katheryn" would be brilliant, especially since her she spells her name in such a distinctive way. It would be a great way to set the more serious and personal tone of the era. Plus, it looks iconic (

I don't think the general public would be too confused -- I'm sure anyone could make the permanent connection that Katheryn is Katy's full name if they saw Katy's name associated with "Katheryn" once.
"Katheryn" needs to happen.
I hope she goes to the AMAs Sunday, I love seeing her red carpet looks
