at the time, Bieber went against the massive WAY (which had 350K sales, 110M+ AI, and 1M+ streaming). Right now, a song that sells over 400K would probably guarantee a #1.

yea, this year, X-Mas sales should be interesting to see how they will play into the new formula. in the past, most of the HDS #1s usually ended up topping the Hot 100 based on their sales alone (since they were massive), but it could go either way this year. Last year's top seller was SAIKI (417K or something) and went #1. not sure if this year's top seller will have more or less than that
