I think this is one of the better recent think pieces on Taylor:

She's spot on about Taylor's handling of the feminism question. In Elle Canada, Taylor said she hoped to learn about feminism in the future but she's 22 and there's no excuse for her ignorance now. I mean, you can put together a two sentence answer on the subject without doing Women's Studies at university. She seems to bundle politics and feminism together. I can understand that she doesn't want to identify with a political party so as not to alienate any section of her fanbase but no one would be offended if she considered herself a feminist.
I also agree about the coded clues in the lyric booklets. Her songs do seem to be a way for her to act out. Despite what Taylor says, all is not far in songwriting and music. Calling someone out in a song is a public and permanent record. She seems proud that she doesn't get into arguments in real life but she needs to realize that that's a healthy normal thing.
