So yeah, Kelly's song was the most country song there, how ironic It was really weird hearing Kelly's name when they were announcing the female nominations, and ****ing dead at Carrie's face when they were announcing them, you could tell she knew she wasn't gonna win She was just like
I don’t listen to nearly as much country music as I’d like to, but the annual Country Music Association Awards is by far my favorite awards ceremony in the industry. Pretty much everyone there is talented and can sing, you don’t have to second guess every winner and wonder who they sucked off to get their trophy like at the Scammys, and the entire show doesn’t get eaten up by stupid publicity stunts like who dressed up as a nun or who announced their pregnancy on the red carpet like at the VMAs.
One woman who’s becoming a force to be reckoned with at the CMA Awards is Kelly Clarkson. She served up one of the best performances of 2010 when she teamed up with Jason Aldean on stage to perform their hit duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay” two years ago, but she may have just outdone herself tonight when she was joined by Vince Gill to perform her breezy new country single, “Don’t Rush”.
This is one of the very few performances today in which the live vocal is virtually indistinguishable from the recorded one. Close your eyes, and you won’t be able to tell the difference, and if there is one to be found, it’s that Kelly sounds even better live than she does on CD. Vince Gill can’t be ignored either, who elevated Kelly’s performance even higher thanks to his killer guitar work and smooth background vocals.
And can we stop for a moment and talk about how ridiculously stunning Kelegendary looked? She was skinny, stylish, and radiating joy and contentment like she just touched the hand of Jesus. Easily the best she’s looked since she slayed the 2006 Grammy Awards.
It looks like Greatest Hits – Chapter 1 is coming for Breakaway’s wig as Kelly’s peak era!
