I can understand people getting freaked out but a good number of those probably aren't even needed. There are people whose lives are legit in danger and they need to be able to get through to the 911 operators.

I know some people in lower Manhattan and they decided to leave the area on Saturday.

I went to Columbia, but I know my friends there are safe. Upper Manhattan seems to be okay, and Columbia especially is essentially on top of a hill.

I know how it feels because I live right next to a hospital, but I could never imagine...
