As much as I hate to admit this, quite a few of Serena's recent wins over "world number 1's" are not really over the best player in the world. Because she (Serena) is the true number 1 even if the rankings don't say it.

Azarenka has to win just one more match to finish the year as #1. If she loses, Sharapova can finish as #1 but ONLY if she wins the whole tournament - which is unlikely.

It's all BS though. Serena has clearly been the best player this year.

Although Serena is the clear favorite, I wouldn't necessarily count Radwanaka out, she did take Serena to 3 sets at Wimbledon...

Azarenka v Sharapova should be INTERESTING tbh. I honestly feel sorry for Sharapova, always losing to Vika in the important rounds, and Vika is always losing to Serena in important tournaments ...ah well I'm gonna honestly guess Serena vs Masha for the final and unlike 2004, Serena winning the title vs Sharapova

I am the biggest Serena stan in the world (ask anyone in this thread when she plays in GS finals how I am) but I want her to retire soon. Not before she beats Navratilova's/Evert's scores in GS's though, but soon because I want Azarenka to reign once she's gone. If it wasn't for Serena, Azarenka CLEARLY would have won 3 of the 4 slams this year with a whole slew of titles more. She could have guaranteed herself the YEC this year as well and would be on her way to becoming one of the best tennis players ever. Back in 2009 I had hope for her when she lost in the QF's of Australia to Serena, and I thought she was going to win a slam then. She didn't, but she did so much more than I originally thought. She's going to become one of the best players of all time, even better than Sharapova tbh (which is a huge accomplishment)
