22. Gotye f/ Kimbra, "Somebody That I Used To Know" (=)
23. Carly Rae Jepsen, "Call Me Maybe" (-3)
STIUTK's longevity has far surpassed my expectations. It definitely has the Year-End #1 on lock now, and I wouldn't be surprised if it spends over a full year on the chart - it only needs 11 more weeks.

No one is buying it anymore, radio is weighted too much in the Hot 100 formula

This song is about to go triple platinum, and what's more, it looks like it's poised to enter the year-end top 10 in terms of digital sales. Unless OMN makes it in there too, fun. will be the only act this year to get two different singles in the YTD top 10 on the digital charts. That's pretty cool in itself, and I could just say, "ZOMG NEW KINGS OF POP, WHEN WILL YOUR FAVES", but there's something else I want to talk about.
When We Are Young was still dominating the charts, a lot of people (including, admittedly, myself) thought that their success was just a fluke and that they'd go down in history as one- hit wonders. I knew that Some Nights was sort of hovering below the Top 50 at the time, but I didn't imagine that it'd be anything more than a minor success, even after it got an official release and a video.
And then... slowly but surely, it started building an audience. It just kept getting more and more popular despite limited promo and mediocre radio updates. It took over a month for it to finally reach the top 10 on iTunes, but it hasn't left since, even after the onslaught of new, high- profile releases from the likes of Taylor Swift, One Direction, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Ke$ha.
I love the fact that this has gotten as big as it has, is what I'm trying to say here. It didn't have massively frontloaded sales, it wasn't constantly shoved down our throats... it just naturally got to where it was because it's an awesome friggin' song.
My hat's off to you, fun.

Well said. So proud of them

Right?
Where will be POM, WA and TOTGA?

One of Katy's song will probably be somewhere in the top 20 especially Wide Awake.
Gotye overtakes Carly this week

It will be interesting to see how BB does their year-end chart this year since they've made changes to their methodology this year (including streaming in mid-March).

Yeah but it's 62 on digital songs, yet so high on the Hot 100? Formula needs to be changed.

It's also high in streaming, considering that the songs ahead of it on Spotify are mostly album tracks from Mumford and Sons.
That factor alone will keep it charting for a while. And its sales will definitely pick back up around Grammy season.
I'm just hoping for Carly to get to 7M soon.

No formula change would knock it down, it's a monster in everything.

With #62 in digital songs, it would be lower on the Hot100 than it is now.

No it need to stay. Record of PRA for #1 song with most weeks in Hot 100 must be broken, so another 16 weeks in chart to go.

Streaming alone will keep it on the chart.
People don't need to buy the song anymore, they own it, they're STILL listening to it.
Not so much CMM, nobody is really listening to it anymore.
