Oh definitely, she was. Taylor gets a lot of b.s. comparisons to Shania, which are ludicrous because Shania very pointedly never wrote anything revealing or personal. (Except for You're Still the One and You've Got a Way. That's why they're the best things she's ever done.)
|
If Taylor ever got bored of country and wanted to go urban, her stans would explode.
I wouldn't mind a single featuring Kanye West.

I hope the #1 for the queen of #1s is revealed tonight

Mess. I think Taylor is... not for me but I'm not familiar with her lyrics. Let's wait for GU's long winded analysis to know the full tea.

Not today. Too busy bopping to the Lord Her new Bible, hopefully Mariah her album sees the light of day some time soon and isn't shelved for too much longer so y'all can get your lives.

Honey going out before The Roofie.

This is non-negotiable.
Coming up - two songs explicitly about sex. One you'll see tonight, the other tomorrow!
|
Anyway, we got Honey next, and what... Emotions?

Well there goes Honey. What's the other? Emotions and The Roof aren't explicitly about sex but they're all I can think about.

Wait, is The Roofie explicitly about sex? I wouldn't know, 'cause I don't use.

Emotions is about sex? I'm so innocent, you've all ruined it for me.

I remember a week of Best of the Best in which Ace wrote a mini-essay on "Emotions" and how it references orgasms or something. Let me see if I can find it...

SHADE!
The start of something new. Pretty much the divider, as certain Mariah fans hated what she became after this, while others only started to love her because of this. A powerful statement of emancipation and bodily secretions, Honey set the tone of the Mariah we know have.

Emotions - Forgive me for comparing Mariah to the two women she's always been compared to/lumped in with, but Emotions by itself shows and proves how separate she is from them. Ostensibly, this is a song about the first thrushes of love, but - make no mistake about it - this is a song about sex. Not just sex, but orgasms.
Think about it.
A young woman of all of 21/22 writing a song about orgasms. This is how you do it, folks. Maybe her most confident - and impressive - vocal. Just perfection. Every second. 4

So "Emotions" is definitely the other sex song.
Too bad, it really should have been in the top five.

And a far superior Mariah it is.
This song is FLAW-FREE. #7 is a good showing.

Eh, I've never took it that way, but I guess you could see it like that. "You've got me feeling emotions deeper than I've ever dreamed of" "Heartbeat next to mine" "Higher" "I feel good, I feel nice" "When you touch me tenderly" "I like the way it feels inSIIIIIDE"
Actually

It implies masturbation in the chorus.

"Underneath the Stars" and "Can't Let Go" aren't favorites, but I do listen to them from time to time.
"Honey" needed to be in the top five. Thanks, Kworb.

Vision of Zeus is the only acceptable winner at this point.

Words cannot describe how much I love "Honey", the video, and everything to do with the Butterfly era.
