Holy Ground is one of the highlights.
Sad Beautiful Tragic has the lingering, sad, uncomfortable, haunting vibe of Last Kiss

My country choices would be All Too Well & Stay Stay Stay.
My pop choices would be I Knew You Were Trouble & Everything Has Changed.
My crossover choices would be Red & Lucky One...while for State of Grace I would hope for crossover success but I'm not sure.

Overall...I am quite pleased with this album. Not sure if it's my favorite since Speak Now is so perfect. It definitely has fewer instantly catchy hooks/melodies, but it feels more mature and she's continually expanding her horizons. I can see how some might feel like the countdown singles were misleading, but the label chose songs that had a large range that would most likely have big sales/lead to big album sales.

Treacherous – Beat sounds like a Never Grow Up. Oh it upped the tempo. I really like the background vocals in that part. Beautifully lilting vocals; largely feels like a lullaby, with the faster bits nice for head-bopping.
All Too Well – This would fit on her first album, sonically, though I’m also kinda reminded of Long Live. Catchier than a TS track though. Very country. I like it.
22 – Is this Max Martin? It’s clearly 100% pop. This feels like a song that *might* do well on pop radio, but could increase complaints that her songs are too immature sonically if sent there. I can see this being a bit of a guilty pleasure.
I Almost Do – Very acoustic-y and slow. Quite pretty.
Stay Stay Stay – What an odd first few notes. No idea what to expect. Oh it’s nicely peppy. This would fit well with her country-only radio singles. I’m reminded of Mean. Her vocals are oddly high though. I like the very acoustic-sounding parts that are stripped down yet fast.
The Last Time (feat Snow Patrol) – Moody beginning. Very ghostly vocals from her. Not into his vocals. I actually love her vocals here. I guess he gets better when the pace picks up. I guess this would be pop-rock.
Holy Ground – Awkward beginning. Pop. Interesting sound. Lyrically not her strongest.
Sad Beautiful Tragic – Very sad start. Very slow ballad. Probably too slow for any radio format.
Lucky One – I like that there’s a story here. I can see this fitting in on country radio.
Everything Has Changed (feat Ed Sheeran) – Her vocals are really pretty; it’s surprisingly catchy for such a low-key song. He sounds pretty here too, so that’s better than Last Time’s guest vocal. If this is the UK smash, it would be deserving.
Starlight – This reminds me of something…some pop song. Oh, Don’t Trust Me. Not sure if it really goes anywhere.
