Pretty Little Liars Speculation: 4 Reasons Why Garrett Will Die in the Halloween Episode
We’re still in shock after learning that one of the main characters will die in the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride”, airing October 23). But with only 8 days left until we find out, it’s time to figure out who will be left for dead before Season 3 picks up in January.
In case you missed it, one of the following 13 characters will definitely die in the next episode.
Let’s start with four reasons why we (and many PLL fans) think Garrett will be the victim.
He’s missing. In this sneak peek from the episode, we see that the Liars are worried about where Garrett has gone. His phone has been disconnected, and he’s nowhere to be found. Spencer seems to have taken the lead when it comes to finding him, and they’re clearly still worried that he might have been involved with Ali’s death. Plus, we saw in an episode of Pretty Dirty Secrets that someone (we suspect “A”) was calling Garrett’s mother’s house and leaving breathy, non-verbal messages. If “A” is after him, then we fear for his life.
He’s part of the NAT club, who’ve seen the incriminating videos. One of the most popular theories about Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) killer had to do with the NAT club’s videos. Many of us thought that “A” killed Maya because she’d seen something she shouldn’t have. Well, Garrett definitely knows things he probably shouldn’t, including the fact that he’s seen the NAT club’s secret videos. If “A” wants to keep those videos under wraps, they might be killing off the non-”A” team members who know what’s on them.
He might have found out who “A” is. Garrett was a Rosewood cop, which means he knew many of the town’s dirty little secrets. For example, he knew about page 5 of Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) autopsy report, and he knew about “A”’s phone being stolen. Who knows what else he could have discovered? If Garrett found out who’s on the “A” team, then “A” might kill to keep him quiet.
Marlene King tweeted a clue. Back in August, a fan asked showrunner Marlene if we would see Garrett in the Halloween episode. She replied that Garrett is “back in action,” and plays “a very important part of the Halloween episode.” Since he’s missing and unreachable, what more important role could he play than a murder victim?
Do you think Garrett will be the one to die?

Behind-The-Scenes on 'Pretty Little Liars' Halloween With Lucy Hale
Zap2it.com caught up with Lucy Hale between scenes on the set of the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Halloween Special, "This Is A Dark Ride," to get some clues on what's to come!
"Things get a little crazy," Lucy reveals, "[Aria] actually disappears, and you later find out what happened while she disappeared, [it's] a huge bombshell, and further complicates the mystery.
Toby Is on the "A" Team: Why Emily Could Be the First Liar to Find Out
Our world was turned upside down on Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 12: “The Lady Killer,” when we learned Toby (Keegan Allen) is on the "A" team.
While we know the truth, the Liars don't, and since the audience isn't able to reach through the TV and drop them a note, they're going to be in the dark for a bit. However, we do know his secret won't be kept forever.
Read spoilers at your own risk!
On Season 3, Episode 16: "Misery Loves Company," one of the Liars will learn the truth, and according to showrunner Marlene King, "the fallout will be huge."
But which Little Liar will be the first to learn the truth? We're going to speculate about why each Liar might be the first to know, and think about whether or not we want them to have that pivotal role, starting with Emily (Shay Mitchell).
Why she might be the first to know: After Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily is the Liar that is closest to Toby. They've been friends for a long time, and he clearly feels like he can trust her. If Toby is infiltrating the "A" team with good intentions, he might open up to Emily about it. He even might go to her if he's had bad intentions in the past, but is starting to feel conflicted or wants to get out of the team but doesn't know how.
More likely, the discovery of his secret will be accidental. But, again, Emily's friendship with Toby makes her a likely candidate for stumbling on his secret, since they spend time together, and he might even invite her to his house to hang out.
Why this would be interesting: Because Emily is close to Toby, his betrayal would be personal — but it wouldn't completely break her (or make her act crazy) like it might Spencer. Also, it would be interesting to see how she dealt with it. Would she tell Paige (Lindsey Shaw) first, or the other Liars? Spencer has attacked many of Emily's friends and love interests in the past — including, Toby back in Season 1 — so it would be ironic if Em ended up being the one who knows it's Spencer's boyfriend who's the baddie.
Why we don't want it. On the other hand, hasn't poor Em been through enough? It would be nice to see the writers go a tad easier on her this winter. And we'd love to see her mend her relationship with Spencer fully after the hurt caused by Spencer accusing Paige, and this would probably only tear them apart.
What do you think: Should Emily be the one to find out first?

OH MY GOD. WHAT IF ARIA IS COURTNEY AFTER ALL?
And this guy did tweet before, near when 3x07 was shown, "Aria's Lie Is Sweet Or Naughty". And using that code thing, that shows ALISON. Hmmm.
Here's a special Halloween treat! Pretty Dirty Secrets, the smartly named web series attached to ABC Family's addictive teen mystery drama Pretty Little Liars, is loaded with special clues about the series. Before the last of eight webisodes premieres on Oct. 16, we scoured all under-the-radar hints about the series' upcoming Oct. 23 Halloween episode (guest-starring Adam Lambert), as well as its new season, which launches in January.
Without further ado, here are the 11 clues any good Pretty Little Liar should notice:
1. QUEEN OF HEARTS
Did you notice the creepy gal hanging out in the web series? We've seen the Queen of Hearts in the past with ''A'' culprit Mona. Just know this: She's important to what lies ahead.
2. MASKED CLUE
In episode 6 of Pretty Dirty Secrets, we saw this mask-filled photo on the mysterious Halloween store clerk Shana's phone. (Pay close attention to her, too.) Look close at this photo — do you see a familiar face? Because, well, you should.
3. SPOOKY TIMES
Did one (or more) of our Little Liars shop at the Halloween Spooktacular store? It certainly looks like it from this clue-filled photo.
4. WHAT A DISGUISE
There are actually two clues hidden in this photo. The horn-rimmed glasses? The wig? The mirror? For a refresher, check out episode 7.
5. BY THE NUMBERS
There sure are a lot of phone numbers in this picture, but a couple are especially interesting. Look close — two of the calls in particular provide clues to what this Shana character is up to.
6. MR. POSTMAN
The clue laced into this photo is big — and likely concerns what's going to happen in Pretty Little Liars' come January. Think about what's being exchanged here...and why. What is Lucas up to?
7. RED COAT
Did you notice this infamous (and spooky) red coat? And who the red-coated person is lurking behind? Lucas!
8. ANOTHER COSTUME
Yep, another costume...but this one caught the eye of one of Rosewood's men. Who's your best bet?
9. TEXTUAL CLUE
Another double clue! On a phone! What two things make sense together here, Liars?
10. BLONDE BOMBSHELL
This clue is kind of a gimme — that's a Marilyn Monroe costume, which will become important. Not least of which because one of the Liars pulls off a pretty awesome version of the blonde bombshell in the Halloween ep.
Brendan Robinson At The PLL Halloween Premiere Party!
ClevverTV caught up with Brendan Robinson at ABC Family's Premiere Event for the Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery last night, to talk about 3B - here's what he had to say:
"We'll be seeing a lot more of Lucas when we return in January, one of the thing's that's really going to shake up Rosewood is Mona's release from Radley Sanitarium, and it's going to affect Lucas because there's some history there.."
"You see more of Maggie, and you see more of the child, and just what it does to Aria, how it makes her feel. She's thinking about the future, and for her love life things are a little sad for a bit.."
Quote:
"She finds out, and it goes down. It's like the ultimate betrayal, not only to the girls but in the realm of love, so you can imagine the scorn. It was a tough scene to shoot.."
Quote:
"In a very, very exciting scene, you see a new suspect! It's crazy, it's bizarre, it's amazing, and you see Ali in a new light.. The contrast between this character and Ali is just amazing, it's insane. So, you would never have expected this, and the way it ties in with the second half of the season and the Halloween episode, it just gives it an even more new, creepy feeling."
Quote:
"[Mona]'s locked away, but is she..? And how can she really pull strings where she is? But she probably is.. How do you like that? That's a riddle, I don't know what I said!"
Quote:
Haleb still encounter some hiccups in 3B but for the most part, it's "good!" We'll be meeting Caleb's family, "it tugs on some heart strings, and brings them closer."
Quote:
"When we pick up in January, we see a totally different side of Paige, super vulnerable, stressed, traumatised, and Emily has to take care of her."
Did Chad Lowe Just Reveal Who Dies In The PLL Halloween Episode?!
Celebuzz caught up with Chad at ABC Family's Premiere Party for "This Is A Dark Ride," and in trying to explain how secretive the writers and directors are about the show's upcoming mysteries, he says something that was either an innocent mistake, or a major slip-up! Fast forward to 04:12! "I've asked them who's A, what happened to Toby, who kills Toby, and they're like, 'can't tell you..' " O. M. G...
Halloween - PLL Cast Reveal Details On Major Character's Death
Hollywire spoke to the PLL Cast at the Halloween episode's premiere on Tuesday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and each cast member had some insight about the cast member who is killed off: "It's a big character, it's like one of the main characters," offers Tammin Sursok. "It's really sad, I was totally shocked," Keegan Allen admits. And finally, it's someone who is close to the PLLs, and Tyler Blackburn was "shocked" when he found out - "big time.."
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Halloween Special: EP Marlene King Teases the ‘Shocking’ Death
There are only six days until the premiere of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special, “This Is a Dark Ride,” and the anticipation is (excuse the pun) killing us, as we know someone in Rosewood won’t make it through the episode.
The network has teased it could be one of 13 people so when we caught up with some of the cast and executive producers Marlene King and writer Joseph Dougherty at the episode’s premiere on Tuesday at the Hollywood Forever cemetery we went searching for scoop.
“He’d be the least expected person to not make it to the end of the line,” says Dougherty. “He’s got a secret and I don’t remember if he gets a chance to share it.”
Did you hear that PLL fans? It’s a HE! Now, we can narrow the list down to one of the following: Caleb (Tyler Blackburn), Ezra (Ian Harding), Garret Reynolds (Yani Gellman), Lucas (Brendan Robinson), Jason (Drew Van Acker). Noel (Brant Daugherty) and Toby (Keegan Allen).
While she says it’s not as shocking as the big “A” team reveal on the mid-summer finale, she says the death is shocking. “This character dies because he has a huge secret and is about to reveal that secret to a Pretty Little Liar,” she reveals. “That’s the reason why this character is killed.”
The EPs also dished on guest star Adam Lambert saying it was actually his idea to come on the show. “He’s a fan of the show. He seemed like such a fit for a Halloween episode,” says King. “I think he came not in costume but in his regular Adam Lambert style and he fit right in.”
Dougherty joked, “He asked special permission to wear his fangs.”
The EPs also talked about what’s to come on Season 3B including Mona’s (Janel Parrish) release from the sanitarium.
Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode airs Tuesday at 8 PM on ABC Family. Season 3B begins in January.
- It's a "he" (http://bit.ly/PfmETa)
- He's one of "Rosewood's finest" (http://on.fb.me/TChKLo)
- He's a main character (http://bit.ly/VcU69D)
- He's close to the PLLs (http://bit.ly/VcU69D)
- He's killed because he has a secret that he planned to share with the PLLs (http://bit.ly/PfmETa)
- It's an unexpected person (http://bit.ly/PfmETa)
- The death is shocking, dark & twisted (http://bit.ly/T5mih0)
- The cast may or may not have seen the original ending at the Premiere Party (there were several alternate endings filmed) but they have shot a subsequent 8 episodes without this person, so they definitely know who it is..
Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale: There's "Definitely a Little Worry and Concern" Over Ezria - Exclusive
While we are wondering who will die in the upcoming Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride,” airing October 23 on ABC Family),we are also wondering about the fate of one of our favorite couples: Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding). So, when Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Lucy Hale at a special screening of the Halloween episode in Hollywood, CA on Tuesday, October 16, we couldn’t help but ask for some Ezria dirt.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How will the revelation that Ezra has a child force these two to grow as a couple?
Lucy Hale: This is the most grown up situation that Aria has ever been in, but I think for the first time she’s realizing, “Maybe this isn’t what I want. Maybe this is too much pressure on my shoulders along with everything else.” She loves him so much and they’re trying to work it out. But she’s definitely having those questions running through her mind. “Is this really good for me? Is this good for Ezra? Is this good for his kid?” So it’s all those sorts of questions. And it’s, I think, the biggest situation that’s ever been thrown at them - and they’ve been through a lot.
Should we be worried about their relationship?
I think you will. At times. You’ll be obviously rooting for them. There’ll be some great moments, there’ll be some bad moments, but there’s definitely a little worry and concern. I’m not gonna lie to you.
Is there a third wheel?
You see a lot of Maggie, who is the baby’s mom. So she might appear as a threat to some of the fans of the show. At times Aria views her as a threat. But it’s a situation that she has no control over this time. It’s not just about them, it’s about his offspring. So you can’t really undo that.
Don’t miss the next new episode of PLL, the Halloween special, on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
What Happens in the Pretty Little Liars Winter Premiere?
In all-new episodes of ABC Family’s hit original series Pretty Little Liars, returning on Tuesday, January 8th, "Radley Sanitarium has given Mona a clean bill of health and she is headed back to the halls of Rosewood High, much to the Liars’ dismay.
With their former tormentor now back in their everyday life, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer take very different views of the “new” Mona. Sure she made their lives a living hell, but is she really cured? And what other secrets could she be holding onto? It is up to Mona to prove to the Liars if she has changed or not."
Exclusive First Look: A Pretty Little Liars Halloween Treat
While A's master plan for the evening is too gruesome to spoil, TV Guide did dig up some interesting deets during an exclusive visit to the set on the Warner Bros lot, where the cast was shooting - here's an itinerary of what to expect once our favorite characters embark on Tuesday's dark ride:
Aria
Decked out as Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby, Rosewood's resident teacher's pet might endure the most harrowing Halloween after she falls prey to A and winds up in some very close quarters with, well, you'll see. "I am so excited because Aria is usually off with Ezra and never really gets to do anything adventurous, so this is very exciting," admits Lucy Hale of Aria's abduction. "She's freaked out because she is [trapped] in this box and then they cut to...something else is in there with her." But where's Ezra?
Ezra
"I'm waiting to surprise her on this beautiful date that we'll have at the end [of the train ride], because I had this thing to do in Philadelphia," offers Ian Harding. "Ezra has a job interview to possibly ghostwrite someone's autobiography." Or does he? The actor says "the episode does a great job of casting some shadows on various people in Rosewood, especially when too many convenient things happen at the same time." Seconds a suspicious Hale, "What is Ezra really up to?"
Hanna
In all her Marilyn Monroe-costumed glory, the blonde faces a few bombshells of her own as the night "gets weirder," says Ashley Benson. "I keep getting attacked by this Phantom of the Opera guy who is freaking me out, we find out that Aria has been kidnapped, and then we realize that A is on the train...we're all in danger because we're locked on this train and can't get off. We don't know who to trust, everyone is in costumes...it's really scary." It's also really romantic...until Hanna unmasks the wrong person.
Noel
"I like to think it's a metaphor," jokes Brant Daugherty of the Kahn man's circus ringmaster costume. "I am gonna play with people." Boy does he. Not only is Noel the catalyst for an unsettling shocker in the hour's final moments, he's also brought a date who could clear a café car. "It is the illustrious Jenna! And the people of Rosewood are none too pleased...some are even a little terrified." Wouldn't you be? To borrow a Spencerism, Bitch crazy.
Caleb
Hanna's beau spends much of the hour "hiding, surprising people...I'm a lingerer up to a certain point and then when [stuff] hits the fan and everything goes crazy, he is there for his woman," declares Tyler Blackburn, who spent much of his downtime on set goofing around with Harding. Shockingly, Blackburn's bad boy keeps his cool after things turn violent near the end of the episode. "I don't throw any punches." That sort of action is left for...
Toby
"It's very interesting to see him in a different light, and stand up in front of all his peers to stop this [person]," says Keegan Allen of the dimpled wonder's unexpected show of force. Maybe it's the Humphrey Bogart outfit he's rocking, or the secret about his A Team status that he's hiding, but Toby is definitely a new man these days. "He even goes up to Jenna and is very aggressive in stating that he liked her more when she was blind!"
Spencer
To match Toby's Bogey costume, the town brainiac is va-va-va-voomtastic as a Lauren Bacall-esque femme fatale. "This is a very good episode for Spencer and Toby," raves Troian Bellisario. "You know, Aria and Ezra always get to do the most romantic date things, Hanna and Caleb are always cooking or kissing in her kitchen, and Paige and Emily are swimming...there are always candles. Now we get to do the couples costume thing!" However, it's a surprise savior and not her duplicitous date who comes to the rescue after a costumed maniac tries to throw this hot mama off the train. "We don't even know if it is A," says Bellisario during rehearsal for the nail-biting battle in between the train cars. "It's really hard to be Spencer. Everybody is out to kill her!"
Emily
"It's a slightly more relaxed episode for Emily only because the mid-season finale was so intense," confesses Shay Mitchell, still bearing the bruises from Em's lighthouse fight sequence with the now-late Nate. "I got a little break, but it's still intense with Aria going missing and knowing that A — or a team of As — are on the train." Honestly, aside from a mind-blowing reveal regarding someone from Ali's past, the most jaw-dropping thing Em may have to deal with tonight is her space age and super sexy costume. "When they told me I was gonna be Barbarella for Halloween, I was like 'I get to wear heels?'" she recalls with a giant smile, kicking up her thigh-high boots in between takes. "People say that I look more comfortable in this outfit than in Emily's [normal] clothes."
Lucas
Twitchy kid seems to have pulled it together since the last time we saw him scurrying through the streets of Rosewood. "I do have a haircut and I'm clean-shaven," says Brendan Robinson, looking positively boyish as he waits for "action!" to be called. "I am possibly back to normal [and] I think people are happy to see me again. There is a little moment with me and Hanna where it's just a little glimpse of what we used to be." Whether or not he's there on Mona's orders remains to be seen, but Robinson hints that his Jimmy Olsen attire could be a clue we should pay attention to. "I'm taking pictures with an old camera...and I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but it is very similar to the one Ezra gave Aria." Hmmm...
Adam Lambert
Yes, that Adam Lambert. As the Ghost Train's surprise musical guest, the American Idol runner-up gets to glam it up in gothic vampire drag for two numbers and share screen time with Hale's dateless Aria. "Even though I'm playing myself, doing that scene was interesting," says Lambert after shooting a performance of his song "Cuckoo" for the crowd on board. "I have to make it seem real." And we have to make it known that he's also the last one to see Miss Montgomery before she goes missing. Just sayin'.
So are you excited for the PLL Halloween ride? And who do you think A is gonna off before the night is over?
Lucy Hale knows who dies in the Halloween episode! "And you'll see why I know who it is! [On a scale of 1 - 10 of how much danger Aria will be in], it's a 10.5!"
Sasha Pieterse weighs in too, "I'm really excited about my scene, you see Ali in a different light, and you also see someone else in a different light, it's unveiling a new suspect - you would never imagine this person to be involved, it was mind-boggling.."
And Lindsey Shaw reveals that Paily "definitely have their Paily moment that they need, and it's awesome.." We got all this from Alloy Entertainment
Pretty Little Liars' Marlene King: Toby Isn't a Double Agent, "He's On Team A" - Exclusive
The big death in the upcoming Halloween episode (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride”) of Pretty Little Liars is just around the corner (airing October 23!) but we can already cross one death suspect off the list: Toby. Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with PLL showrunner Marlene King and Joseph Dougherty and they talked to us about Toby’s big role in the second half of Season 3 and all the “answers” we’ll get in the Halloween episode.
Wetpaint Entertainment: So, the Halloween episode. We know it's on a train. We know someone dies. What can we say about the death itself?
Joseph: You have to be careful when you start telling secrets. You'd better get them out fast, or you may not have an opportunity to finish.
Marlene: It comes back to our theme song. Only two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead. That's why somebody dies.
What's the most fun thing about this stand-alone episode in the middle of the season?
Joseph: The most fun about this one was working with Tim Hunter who directed it and realizing we could just make this movie that would be larger than a simple, complicated episode of the show, and it is. It's arguably the most lavish episode we've ever done. It certainly has some of the most complicated sets we've ever built.
Marlene: It's a movie. It's not a typical episode of Pretty Little Liars in any way, shape or form. It's visually stunning. It’s a thrill ride. It's so suspenseful, and we feel like we made a movie.
From a serialization standpoint, does it answer questions?
Joseph: Oh, yeah.
Marlene: It asks and answers which is what we try to do all the time on our show. But I think you get a lot more answers than people are going to expect.
What are the larger arcs this winter?
Marlene: Well, Mona is out of Radley, and she tells us that she's better now. But I don't believe that, and we did reveal last time that Toby was on the “A” team, and that's going to play out. It’s certainly going to rock Spencer's world when she finds out. I would say the big pay‑off that we teased in the beginning of the season is that red is the new black. And you're going to find out in the Spring why red in the new black.
And someone hinted that Ali may not have been so in control as we thought she was, that she's a pawn in this whole thing. What do you think about that theory?
Joseph: Well, what's the name of [executive producer] Oliver Goldstick's last episode? “I'm your Puppet?” There's a lot of puppetry going on, people behind the scenes and behind‑behind the scenes
Marlene: And I think we start to question who's the puppet and who's the puppet master for a while on the show.
Will we see Spencer find out in Spring about Toby?
Marlene: Yes, you will. I think we can safely say that, yes.
I guess that makes me a little sad for Keegan? Does it automatically mean the end of him?
Marlene: No.
Joseph: We don't do anything automatic. It's manual, all the way.
Marlene: We love the character of Toby, and the character of Toby is going to stay very much a part of our world.
But you're not retracting anything. He is on the “A” team, and this is not some sort of double agent?
Marlene: He is on team “A.”
Will we discover more people on team “A?”
Marlene: You'll have to wait and see.
Don’t miss the next new episode of PLL, the Halloween special, on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
