radio audience can be categorised into different genres, sales cant be! i mean if a person usually listens to pop but buys a country song, its still a sale.
similarly if a person generally listens to pop, but listens a song on country then only its country audience should be included!
country songs are not meant to have pop appeal, so punishing a song coz it cant crossover!! they arenot meant to crossover! and if it does.. then it should be considered pop audience not country aydience!
its all so clear in my head, i cant put it out right..
you are speaking my mind right now!
we can all pretend that airplay chart is the main chart still, but the billboard, labels, GP will consider the HCS to be the main chart.. it wont change ever!

i agree, this new chart is ********

Until now, only country stations contributed to the Hot Country Songs chart, or R&B/hip-hop stations to Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs; the same held true for Latin and rock. The new methodology, which will utilize the Hot 100's formula of incorporating airplay from more than 1,200 stations of all genres monitored by BDS, will reward crossover titles receiving airplay on a multitude of formats. With digital download sales and streaming data measuring popularity on the most inclusive scale possible, it is only just the radio portion of Billboard chart calculations that includes airplay from the entire spectrum of monitored formats.

since we can't make the chart 100% accurate, we should make it 99% accurate

It's not just Carrie stans. Country fans on other music forums (like Pulse) are mad as well.
This new chart is only helping Taylor Swift and nobody else.
The joke is on Billboard and Taylor's label to be honest.

sounds about right.

Well, it's selling pretty well too. But this is completely ridiculous. Completely.

It's a fact it was going to be number one, and that it was going to stay at one for at least two weeks. Now Carrie most likely won't be going number one unless she has a huge televised performance or gets her label to pull strings with Billboard.

If I Knew You Were Trouble debuts at one, I'm gonna have Taylor to come out with a public statement saying how wrong it is and how she knows that song doesn't deserve to be #1.
If she thinks its cool and is proud of it, I'm just going to be livid with her.

To Brad Paisley, Hunter Hayes, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban...
I am sorry, but getting a #1 country song on Billboard is now impossible for you. XOX

1) I know you're probably still upset, but there is no need to be rude. I hear what you and others are saying loud and clear--that genres charts should reflect what songs are most popular within that genre's main audience.
2) I'm saying that I disagree. The country chart, and all the genre charts, should reflect which songs are most successful, even if the core audience does not like the song as much as the general public.
Even if you don't agree with me, you can't at least understand my point of view?
I should've just ...

its so unreasonable, of course she'll not! and thats not something to be mad at her about ..
if she does that, she'll get a backlash from country critics, pop critics, billboard and the GP! and it would be all because of something she dint do .. !!

I really hope Blown Away goes #1 though.

It is not for any of us to decide whether a song is country enough to get that #1. If Country radio (or whatever politics happen behind this genre) wants to put any song on their rotations, these songs should be recognised as the most popular country songs. It's difficult to determine whether the sales is country or not, hence not representable.
So I am disappointed. (Not because Taylor got that #1, don't get me wrong)

Your point of view is basically saying that a pure pop song with minor country influences should be allowed number one. Why have genre specific charts if they're all basically mini Hot 100s?

It would be much more respectable, if she were to come out and say that she doesn't agree with the new charting rules.
I'm seriously having nightmares picturing I Knew You Were Trouble as a #1 COUNTRY single.

It's not Taylor's fault it's billboards for making all these stupid changes and that goes for the R&B charts as well.

They should be mini-Hot 100s. IMO, they should rank the most popular songs within that genre....not the most popular songs for the genre's main audience.

I think Carrie got the bad end of this time.
Billboard screwed her over so much, Carrie deserves #1 right now. Not Taylor. Blown Away had to wait 17 weeks to get to #1, and now she's not even going to be able to have it.
