I can't at everyone bringing WANEGBT up like it's her only song.
Come on it's not even that bad.
Taylor is a great song-writer, she paints a complete picture in your mind with-in minutes.
Her style is real.
People are not used to having artists write their own songs always and that's why Taylor songs have the same feel.
Well of course! she's the same person writing over and over again, she's gonna explain it in the same way because she's the same person.
Unlike other artists that hire song-writers or (co-write most of the time), of course they'll have more variety, they'll have a song written by someone then the other song written by a whole different person.
And of course different songwriters' 'writing' won't have the same style because they're different and they have different ways of talking/writing.
And she DOES have variety, she writes about many subjects. ( Safe and Sound, Never Grow Up, Fearless, Back To December, Ronan, The Outside, Tied Together With A Smile, Mean, Speak Now, Love Story, Sparks Fly, The Best Day, Begin Again................the list goes on)
Even though she writes about love most of the time, she does write about different things.
I mean after all you can't control her song-writing because she writes about her life.
It's good for the kind of artist she is and the kind of music she makes. Measured next to any more seasoned, profound and creative writers (like Alanis M.) she's Fisher Price.

Artists who write their own songs can still show variation in their musical style.
I hate to bring one of my faves into this conversation, but look at Gotye. He writes and produces all of his work himself, and his stuff is incredibly diverse.

Yup, but I also think people expect a certain sound out of Taylor. Im not sure if the label can risk her venturing outside her comfort zone out of fear of alienating her fanbase. Thats why alot songs have the same "storytelling" theme, its kindoff by the numbers.
Id like to see her work with T Bone Burnett. Honestly, I think she could write very good material with him.

I see your point, but Taylor's at a point in her career where she could probably release a track of herself reading the phone book and it would go to #1 on iTunes. I'm not trying to say that all her songs sound the same, because they don't, but I'd like to see a little more experimentation from her.

She IS trying more and more things, I mean who would've thought Taylor would do something like Better Than Revenge or Safe & Sound?
She also said she has a song on the album that's very different from what she does and people would be surprised that it's Taylor.
I mean even without that, what are you expecting her to do?
She did Pop, Rock, Country, Alternative, collaborated with a rapper, Indie, Acoustic.
I don't even think you listened to all of 'Speak Now'.
She's as 'experimental' as it could get in her genre.
No one else did this before.
Are you waiting for her to sing about needing a guy in her bed? or wanting to get nasty?
Her music is diverse, and you'd know that if you actually listened to her albums.
lol oh brother

Who's that again?
He produced the song Safe and Sound, and produced albums for Dylan, Alison Krauss/Robert Plant, and Counting Crows, among others.

First of all, almost everyone nowadays has collaborated with a rapper. I know she's dabbled in rock and indie, but those genres aren't really that far off from her comfort zone.
I've listened to a fair amount of her discography and, again, I don't think that all of her songs sound the same. I just don't think she's ever released a record as ambitious as, say, Making Mirrors or The ArchAndroid. And I'd like to hear her release a record like that because I think she can pull it off if she really tries.

Where the hell did THIS come from?
How did you get "I want Taylor Swift to sing about needing a guy in bed" from "I'd like to see Taylor tackle some genres and themes outside her comfort zone"?
So she's done rock and indie, fine. But what if she were to release a soul track? Or a reggae track? Or a psychedelic track?

What part of "I don't think that all her songs sound the same" don't you understand?

Ooh!
Yeah, I'd definitely want to see her collaborate more extensively with him.

I'd think it would be cool for her to do an album like Making Mirrors I mean that is one of the best albums this year but I don't think artists need to push the musical boundaries that far if they don't want to. I mean if one day she decides to do an album like that then I wouldn't be against it but I'm certainly not expecting her to do that.

Fair enough. I'm not saying that I expect her to release an album like that, though, just that it would be kind of neat to see her try. I understand that she may not want to try to take on a project like that, for artistic and/ or commercial reasons.

Yeah I definitely agree it would be cool. Maybe a few years down the line once she isn't as commercially succesful though it would be great to see some artistic songs top the chart ala STIUTK
Honestly I think it's just the matter of time until she get out of that shady label and proudly showing her 'weird' side. I mean, just look at her playlists, from USA Today & her iTunes playlist from '10. Hanging out with the indies at private, not the shite mainstream acts. All signs pointed to that direction. I can't wait for that time tbh.
Many of her lyrics are so similar, and it feels like all of her songs are about teen's crushes or not getting over someone. I think her success is based on repeating the same formula over and over again...
Love Story // Fifteen // Fearless // Today was a Fairy Tale // The Story of us // Sparks fly // Enchanted
With these songs she basically just re-used the same formula (a teen girl and her experiences with love and friends, and some of them even sound really similar)
I gotta say it's a good formula the one she is using, because I love some of those songs, but they're still similar in the points I mentioned
