I wished all of her covers were black and white but had the title and some sort of feature highlighted in red.

I see a 35% lead WANEGBT is about to pass OMN though...Please Taylor don t free fall !!! and I swear if this won t go straight to the top on country, I ll get mad because it sacrificed WANEGBT exposure (even though I like it more than WANEGBT but I m also here for a successful taylor

I hope it's another song we don't know the name of. She should leave most of the already announced titles so that there's still hyped up songs we haven't heard by the time the album comes out.

It will be interesting to see what she releases as her next promo single. A rock song could be a great option. It's most likely would be a totally new song that is unheard of

I swear it seems she just decreased 5% a day. Even if she does just decrease 5% a day, she'd still be number one by Monday. That's if she only decreases 5% for the whole day.

I just hope it hangs in there till tomorrow. That would mean she had 3 really good sales-days. Its pretty clear that BA is gonna top SN sales. So the countdown campaign has had a better start than last time around.

Taylor Swift Is Beginning To Be Country Again
There was a lot of controversy in the last couple of months over Taylor Swift’s leading single off her fast-approaching album ‘Red’. ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ is a punchy, bouncy, teenybop hit that makes ‘Call Me Maybe’ sound like a serious piece of artistry. I wrote this article on the song but essentially the crux of my argument is that the song has become a bit of a guilty pleasure, but that I hope she doesn’t make it a blueprint for her career.
Well my prayers were answered.
‘Begin Again’ is the second song to be released from ‘Red’ as part of the four-week releasing bonanza in the lead up to October 22nd. Like ‘Fearless’ some years ago now, ‘Begin Again’ describes the magical experiences of a first date but this time with the twist of it being the first date after going through a horrible break-up. Taylor said on Good Morning America that it showed the ‘vulnerability’ you feel in that situation, and, wonderfully, that really is the emotion that it conveys. It’s gentle and hesitant and unsure and pleasantly surprised, and I am really pleasantly surprised not only in this beautiful set of lyrics that really appeals to me and my life experiences, but at how understated it is compared to ‘WANEGBT’. It allows the song to do the talking rather than punching the listener in the face with effects and ‘ooh’s etc. I personally love songs that pick up on the simple pleasures of life such as “but you stopped to talk about the movies that your family watches every single Christmas”, and “you throw your head back laughing like a little kid”. It’s observations about life put into lyrics like that that make a song really special, in my opinion.
However, I’m sure the one thing that everyone has noticed is that it’s a huge leap back towards country, or whatever is classed as so. The focus on the acoustic guitar, the use of the steel guitar, the mandolin and/or banjo plucked lightly in the background, the fiddle on the bridge and the sweet country-esque female harmonies on certain words. This is a modern country ballad by all accounts, which really opens up the debate for predictions on the new album. Just what will the musical theme be? When originally speaking about the content of the songs on ‘Red’ some months ago Taylor said that almost all the songs were sad (I can’t remember where I read this) and when the album title was announced she explained that most of the songs were sad, desperate, angry, passionate (I also can’t remember where I read this). But to me, although WANEGBT is a break-up ‘you suck’ song, the general feel is just a really fun, power-pop song reminiscent ideologically of the Spice Girls. I don’t feel the pain or the anger when I listen to it. Then to follow it with this, Begin Again, which starts full of vulnerability but is soon shrouded in a pleasantly surprised bliss and hope for the future, it doesn’t match up to her descriptions. This song is not passionate as such and certainly isn’t full of ‘red’ emotions.
So I’m at a loss as to the content that ‘Red’ might contain, but I can only hope she will follow ‘Begin Again’ within the same vein, and I can imagine that a huge majority of her fans, however much they claim to love what she does no matter what it sounds like, will be fingers crossed for the same thing. Welcome back Taylor. You scared us there for a second.
