I don't go in hard on Janet Jackson fans because... they already have it hard enough. But Britney's a worldwide household name. She's not a local celebrity/the inferior sibling in a showbiz family.
Grew up listening to Britney, not Janet... but Janet is forever legend and is much more respected in the industry. That's like saying Madonna or Cher have nothing on the women who dominate the radio today. They've had their peak before most people on this board have consciously made decisions about what music to make. I listen to/own more Britney albums than I do Janet, and I don't particularly seek out Janet's music, but I pay my respects. Let Britney pump out a few more albums and then compare... especially if she manages to get out of her conservatorship and make decisions pertaining to her career. We'll see how relevant she is when she's Janet's age. Yes, let's not kick the injured puppy, but lets not steamroll people who have earned their place in the industry already... Janet is an icon, a legend and has influenced music way before you were (likely) even born. I love Britney more than Janet, but you people are either a) super young, b) taking this thread a little too personally, this is not a stan war, this is history or c) delusional, and could use some of Britney's meds.
Even with all her accomplishments, no one really cares about Janet any more other then stans. They haven't really cared for her in over a decade. Janet is basically the filler of the music industry.

How exactly has Britney's career been superior to Janet's? Janet writes most of her material and she can actually dance, even at 45. Britney's what, 35 now, and she's already moving like a hippo on stage. Talk about longevity.
