Childrens programming in general has gone down the tubes in the last 7-ish years. I don't know what happened. Kids shows were absolutely *****ing in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's, I even still watch some of those shows to this day and I'm 20. It seems like childrens shows creators have just given up on trying to bring out original shows that actually talk about real life issues. Now it's all "I want to be a popstar and famous!" and they all sing in real life and barrage us with their music and it's just annoying as ****. A kids shows can be about something other then singing and being a celebrity, ugh.

Yeah. The Proud Family was successful, was it not? That's So Raven was successful, was it not? I don't buy into this whole "Only black people will watch shows with black characters on it". I'm white and I watched "black shows" all the time because I thought they were funny, the fact that the characters were a different race then me made no difference.

The Proud Family was HIGHLY stereotyped, an episode didn't go by without Penny SCREECHING 'uh-uh gurl nawww!', although they DID do a good job depicting a typical African American lifestyle.

This might be stereotyped but
I am here with a show with the cast being a full of minority
Black lead characters Latino&Arab supporting characters Asian with a minor roles
Them living in a poor area and showing that even if you live in the "ghetto" you can make it out and be successful etc etc etc

Is that why That's So Raven is one of Disney's most successful shows ever?

It's not just Disney, Nickelodeon needs some diversity in their shows as well. Back then both networks has some much diverse shows. I remember Disney had shows like That's So Raven, The Proud Family, Famous Jett Jackson, and Even Stevens ( they were a Jewish family).
Nickelodeon has shows like Taina, Kenan and Kel, The Brothers Garcia (first all Latino cast), Journey of Allen Strange ( where the black guy was the main character) and Mystery Files of Shelby Woo (where the Asian girl was the main character.)
They don't have that no more and it's shame.

I don't understand it either, especially because America is getting less and less white every year. There is going to be more minorities in America then whites soon so you would think they would try to make racially diverse shows to capitalize on this but no.

It was basically shoved down viewers' throats for four years. The soundtracks performed POORLY, and it never even spawned a cheap, disgusting 'Disney Channel Original Movie'. Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire, and Wizards of Waverly Place are all more successful.

No black Disney Channel show is iconic - accept it and move on. Between unlikable and loud characters, unfunny 'baby mama hayyy boo boo!' jokes, and cheap sets, there's a reason why Disney Channel has removed African American programs from its schedule.

This post was so ignorant. So the white-casted shows didn't have cheap sets as well?
That's So Raven is more known and 'iconic' than mostly every show on Disney other than Hannah Montana, Even Stevens, and Lizzie Mcguire.
