I couldn't hear the song cause I was in school, and I couldn't comment on it as well, now that I've done both, this is what I think:
Nicki will flop. We can't afford her doing these types of decisions. If The Re-Up is a project on which you're supposed to attract and garner attention from your previous lost Urban fans, this is not the song to do it. Champion and HOV Lane **** on this song Urbanly-speaking, so I don't see why this is any better than the songs that were on PFRR.
I'm specially discouraged with the Cassie feature on it. Cassie brings absolutely NOTHING to the song. Her vocals are weak and lazy, and she's irrelevant. She's a one-hit wonder stuck in 2006 like Honey said, nobody's checking for her, so why have her featured when Nicki could've done her parts alone?
The song sounds like a recycled dated demo from years ago, and even if its a grower, in no way this is LEAD SINGLE material. Whoever chose this as the first offering from The ReUp must get his ass fired from Young Money. I actually like the Pink Friday teas the song gives, but its still falls weak on its 'lead single' status.
As a stan, of course I'm gonna support it, but I can't predict success for it. It will probably perform like RBMS did or a bit better considering it has 'lead single' status, but I do not have high expectations for it.
What a disappointment.
