India doesn't have iTunes for this reason (even Sri Lanka does). No ones buys anything and the few music videos there are don't even have the singers featured (not that they should considering their looks and performing skills). And yes, I'm aware Indians are only behind big names; that's just a recipe for mediocrity. Again, look at who Maxim India chose as the sexiest woman in the world.
I hate how much India pirates Like jeezus, Bollywood lost BILLIONS from ripped DVD's . And from all the pirating, India has a very weak musical identity/influence .

India actually has a lot of musical identity and influence historically, just not anymore. And well... Bollywood films just aren't worth buying so I don't blame them.
The dancing, the costumes, the song, the looks, the voices, all the random white people ...
Yah, I noticed how much Bollywood seems to love white people to the point where all thier actors are paler that the average american . I don't remember the last time I saw a dark Indian actress in a major role .
It doesn't help that the "whitening" industry in India is a multi-million dollar one

Yes, Asians love pale skin ("fairness" creams are popular throughout Asia) and they put western people on a pedestal. A white person (even the darker ones) can go to Asia and be treated like God.
Most Indian actresses are pretty dark without the hundred pounds of makeup and lighting. It's amazing how much darker Priyanka is in real life:
But she tries oh-so-hard to look paler under extreme lighting (Hollywood combats lighting with tans, but Asians would never tan and take advantage of lighting to look paler) and even more western with her contact lenses:
^ Why is she always wearing colored contact lenses? So tacky.

These are Hindi movie songs, not Indian pop songs. There's actually Hindi pop music (not much) and there's also other plenty of other languages/industries in India.
As for Chiggy Wiggy, it's okay. I think Marjaani from Billu by Sukhwinder Singh & Sunidihi Chauhan is a good song.
Doesn't Beyonce have the same issue? She appears lighter in editorials and videos and stuff but in reality, she is darker....
In any case, I have no issue with skin colour. It doesnt matter at all, gay, straight, black or white, fat or thin... As long as the music delivered is good. I like a catchy tune so I hope that is what Priyanka delivers!
That pic where Priyanka looks darker is due to the darker lighting. She could also have a tan. In my opinion she just has paler skin. I am 100% of Indian descent but am pale as a ghost.
And it's not just Bollywood that is obsessed with lighter skin, it really is just a lot of Indians. The caste system is still very important to most, and lighter skin is admired in it.
Yes, Marjaani is a good filmi song . And jesus, without the lights Priyanka is only a little lighter that me , but with the lights
Well brown-skinned people always look deceptively lighter under lights. And Priyanka is even darker in real life without professional lighting and makeup:

Yes, but Beyonce is naturally pale herself. She just looks paler under lighting.
You might not, but the reality is that many Asians do. There's a reason why Priyanka and others try so hard to look lighter at events (or people try to make her look lighter). Asians are obsessed with pale skin and will consider even uglier people with pale skin to be attractive.

Of course there are many naturally pale-skinned Indians, but Priyanka definitely is NOT one of them. The pic where Priyanka is darker does have lower lighting, but that's actually closer to normal lighting and a better judgement of actual color.. And take a look at the photo with Gaga as well. Gaga still looks pale because she is; Priyanka does not.
Also, Indian events always use excessive lighting (and their websites like Santabanta.com even edit pics to) to make the people look lighter in photos, but western events don't. Priyanka at the Toronto International Film Festival:
^ She's not the only one. How much darker does that L'oreal bird-nosed lady look in her low-budget western film as a sword-wielding warrior compared to her Indian films? You all know who I'm talking about.

Yes, Bollywood/Tollywood/Kollywood is just reflective of Indian tastes and standards. And nowadays many of the actresses playing Indians are not even Indian.
But caste system =/= color system. Caste refers to social class and while paler skin is definitely subconsciously associated with class (and beauty and even intelligence), it's not necessarily true. Priyanka is of high caste and not pale while even low caste village types can have light skin (and natural light eyes that Indians seem to loooooove nowadays). It's all about ethnicity:
I've seen Shreya live. She's really one note with the same type of girl-like innocent voice thing. As for Sunidihi:
^ That was great, but what's so amazing about it? Nicole Scherzinger, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Beyoncet, etc. can do the same. Also, they can dance, look good and entertain a crowd at the same time instead of just standing there.

Well high notes r not everything and moreover as a singer Shreya and sunidhi r better than any of the singers u have listed if u will check their live performances u will find that they sounds Almost same as recording even in LIVE as per performer is considered Western singers slays
i mean indian music is totally different and they all r classical trained singer and indian classical music is very tough to learn just check out this performance this is very hard song to sing u can try by yourself and stop paying so much heed towards high notes
