Katy's got the conventional good looks and the superstar producers mixing her tracks for her. She's super cute and generally inoffensive. But that makes her sort of disposable. IS she the voice of our generation? No.
Gaga was a phenomenon. She made the whole world pay attention to her from the get go. She tries to bring a different flavor to the often repetitive top 40 scene and that doesnt always make her popular, sometimes she tries way too hard though. IS she the voice of our generation? No.

I don't personally think any of todays female pop icons are the voices of our generation.

if u guys look at their carrer so far. there a lot of similarities between them and madonna and cyndi lauper but only is a little bit switched. Katy has cyndi laupers style and what not and lady gaga has madonnas. but career wise katy is going the madonna route and gaga the cyndi route.

Well, one of them got her very first award from my country. Sold out concert in 12 minutes. She's controversial, but still respected. She's aknowleged as best female ENTERTAINER of our times. Praised for her voice, creativity and message.

The other one didn't even sell out a 2k club in my country. Even the most serious critics joke about her, all the time.

It's Christina María Aguilera. You can call her everything, Floptina, Fattina, Burgilera, but she was the first girl in our generation that got this name.

That's only when using the too-literal interpretation of voice. You can be the voice of a generation without being the best singer, or even a singer at all.

Well, Christina is actually a Voice of a Generation, she taught everyone that you are beautiful no matter what everyone says, she taught everyone that we could fight for freedom and for our dreams, and she always teaches us the value of expressing ourselves (even with the Floponic album).
She inspires millions, and she inspired millions even before Katy or GaGa dreamt of showing up in the music scene.
I'm not being hostile, I love GaGa from the bottom of my heart, but Christina is been a Voice for millions for over 10 years now
