It goes WW in several countries on the same day. Not a LOT of countries but the countries with the biggest phone markets.

It's heavily rumored to be Sept. 21.

Why is everyone calling it the iPhone 5 though? Even though it is known as 5,1 internally by Apple, It will be the 6th generation iPhone. The iPhone 4 went by the name iPhone 3,2, but it became known as the iPhone 4, no matter what the internal code name was.

If they follow in the steps of the iPad they'll probably just drop the number and just call it "The iPhone" or "The new iPhone", so I doubt it matters.

I have a 90% feeling it'll be "iPhone 5"

Here's why. Yes, I know it's the 6th generation phone, but the 4S was the 5th generation, and we all see where that went. Also, they wouldn't call it "the new iPhone" because when they do the updated version like they have with the 3G, 4 (3GS, 4S) what are they going to call it "the new iPhone S?" I don't think so.

Plus the GP have been anticipating the iPhone 5 since before the 4S was announce last year, it wouldn't make sense for them to skip 5 and go to 6.

Theyre not gonna call it 6, point blank period lol. They could just continue to call it "iPhone" forever without not additive terms or numbers and for the first months they add on "the new iPhone". People really call it the new iPhone regardless of any numbers they put on it. "Hey girl, I got that new iPhone from the AT&T store today".

I feel like that would get confusing for the GP though.

"Hey, what iPhone do you have?"

"The "new iPhone" (which would refer to every iphone model named that since then so what model would they be referring too?)

What you didn't specify is that Apple will be the first to use Qualcomm's new LTE chips that are more energy efficient than current offerings and will be one of the first worldwide supported LTE phones.
