Ludicolo? Swiftry? Ninjask? They all have great abilities to increase their Speed and also a wide variety of moves to cover mutiple types. Ghost, Bug, Flying, Dark, Psychic, Electric, Ground, Grass, Water, it's all up for grabs.

Why? Poison is an awful type.

There are a lot of Posion-types that are great on the defense/special defense side. Other than that, it is complete ****

They have way too much counters and weaknesses.

Hmmm....I guess there aren't any Poison/Grass types in Pokemon Emerald

And since you don't want to use Ludicolo, there's only 2 good grass types left: Tropius and Shiftry.
I'd prefer Shiftry though, Tropius has horrible moves
