A color cover is good, but it's least aspect of it I'm concerned with. Simple, classy and non-provocative that still stands out on the shelves is all I'm asking for at least the album cover to be.

He's saying that he wants to have a confirmed date so he can atleast tell us, he doesnt want to say a date that isnt confirmed and then her team pushes it back !

Sounds like he just doesn't want to say anything until it's 100% definite. Wouldn't read too much into it.
I mean, these things can change at the drop of a hat (see: PARTYNAUSEOUS), it doesn't mean that music is far away.
Not to mention, he's saying he's waiting to hear something concrete - which implies that he has a good idea when stuff is coming on the grapevine, but the powers that be haven't made it known that it's for sure yet.
I have the feeling interscope is considering a 2012 album release which is why there is no guarantee on a date as of yet. If one was named and got pushed back that'd be far more disappointing.
