Ellie might not have the sales but she has the streaming on her side. The streaming charts do not only show what people want but also what they listen to, so I'd take Ellie's airplay+streaming+sales combo over Rihanna's mediocre singles sales any day.

Where Have You Been is so lucky airplay is included in the charts. If the chart was solely based on downloads and streaming (i.e. the factors that the people choose), I think it could've missed the top 10 altogether tbh.

I like Rihanna, but she better not release another song similar to WHYB. She needs to be having bigger hits than this. Hopefully she comes back with something better and more interesting for her next lead single.

I really don't think you got "mad so much people". Instead, everyone corrected you since you're the last person to make such a comment - when Rihanna has had many many moments of getting songs to outrageous heights on radio but barely scan many millions.

Fact is, "Lights" is two years old and has already sold 3 million copies. If you had thought about this before making that post, you'd realize it made sense for it not to be so high in sales, subsequently avoiding the drags.

Lights was a strong seller. 3 million for a #2 peak & 120 million AI is very healthy. Plus the song sold out enough not just in the Top 10, but outside of it too.

Both Where Have You Been & I Wanna Go sold similarly, I Wanna Go a little bit worse. Both their final sales were disappointing.

WHYB only did well after the Idol performance (its peak sales week was after that show). It just couldn't keep it up. IWG was constantly played on the Bravo Channel last year as well (not as big promotion as AI but it's decent). But a little over 1 million for both is really bad - I heard IWG everywhere last summer. I didn't hear WHYB as much as radio would indicate but it was obviously an even bigger radio hit.
