I saw this just now:
Director Clint Eastwood long has been planning a remake of “A Star Is Born” with Beyonce in the role of a rising star who falls for an aging rocker in the vein of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain.
But who would be her leading man? Rumors over the years have suggested Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Tom Cruise and Will Smith.
The latest name in the mix: Bradley Cooper, now on screen in “Hit and Run” and soon to be seen in “The Words.”
“Me in ‘A Star is Born?’ I have no idea what you’re talking about,” a good-natured Cooper told the Sun-Times this week, not exactly putting the brakes on the “Star” vehicle.
“It is an interesting idea,” he added.
Adding fuel to the speculation, he went on to tell us, “Clint is one of our best directors. Everyone wants to work with him.”
Beyonce has gone on record to say that she’s a big fan of the Judy Garland 1954 version of the film and the 1976 remake starring a big-haired Barbra Streisand. The original Janet Gaynor film debuted in 1937.
