You also have to think about those who are saying she's "great," "innovative," "different," etc.
She appeals to those who like flashy, flamboyant artists, and she raps over dance beats.

Her straight rap songs are good. Not everything has to be Rick Ross to be good. He might appeal to a different crowd then her, same with Lil Wayne, but in my opinion, Lil Wayne is one of the worst rappers I've ever heard.

Her latest verse in "I lov Dem stripper" shows Nicki can still Kill rap verse if she wants too. AB has yet to dimenstrate any layers to her. Also The majority of PF:RR lyrics were also freestyle and recorded in one set.

is she the best lyricist? of course not...but she honestly serves me kim/foxy teas in terms of coming in the game with the vulgarity (i personally am into it...i can see why others aren't) And tbh her wordplay can be witty @ times as well (she's def not a bad lyricist). You also have to admire her work ethic the bitch is coming out with new **** constantly (i liked iggy when she dropped but she hasn't been coming through lately D: )
The production compliments her flow; she can rap and sing...what's not to like about her? I think her sound and style is rather refreshing compared to some of the other rap females we've seen in the game lately.
I love me some nicki as well (no shade), but there is always room for two bad bitches in the rap game...and it seems as though nicki is leaning towards the pop side (down the road, anyway) and azealia's rap/pop sound is very different when compared to what we'd expect from mainstream urban radio...i hope she catches on

Its not just genres. Lyrics too. Nothing about that is inspiring, innovative, deep or motivational. Luxury talking about getting Dick from some rich dude like 98% of her songs. Now Compare that to "I'm The Best" a rap song where Nicki talks about her struggle to get to where she is, telling her testimony and also saying how she wants to inspire girls to never give up/believe in themselves.
