Last time I checked, there are more important things in the world to worry about than whether a rabbit was killed.

They do kill more than one rabbit for that damn jacket you ignorant asshole.

I meant most of the time they give the meat to be made for food while also using the fur for clothing, which gets more use anyways..

You don't know the first thing about how fur is extracted from animals.
It is not even CLOSE to how meat is taken from animals.
You can just kill a cow and butcher it, NO BIG DEAL.
For fur, they beat them and torture them, and Electrocute them to "preserve" the fur before they SKIN them.
it is pure torture.
Furthermore, eating meat for protein/iron is something far more necessary than wearing a damn coat for leisure.
100 Rabbits were TORTURED for her to wear ONE coat for ONE Day, does that even seem comparable to a cow being killed to supply meat for over 20 people? The REACHING.
and we can all add that to the fact that Gaga is a hypocrite and said she hates fur and would never wear it.

I find what she did hypocritical. If she came as the fur loving diva,i wouldnt care but to say something and do the opposite. That's lame.

But I agree with you. It's a personal choice, and I have no problems with people who eat meat. I don't treat people as inferior and I'll never force my lifestyle choices down their throats. I do believe eating meat is completely unnecessary, however. I think it's hypocritical for people who eat meat to criticize people who wear it. Neither serve a purpose. Almost everybody could survive without meat. There is no reason to eat meat when there are healthier alternatives, other than "it tastes good", which is the equivalent of "it looks good"-- in regards to fur coats.
Perhaps backwards and archaic were too strong of words, but I do believe if everybody cut out meat from their diet our society would be considerably healthier.

I can see how it is hypocritical for people who think like me (anti-fur, pro-meat) to state their beliefs but to me there are two differences. First, animals are tortured pre-death when the fur is being taken from them. When the meat is taken it's not like they're treated like kings, but they're not brutally tortured to preserve the fur. Second, although meat isn't essential to human life, it is a healthy way to get protein. There is no benefit from wearing fur and the animals are treated much worse to get it. Meat is good for you and all but I understand how it's not particularly necessary for human survival.

And you've never killed a pig in your life. I have since I was raised in a ranch for a few years. You just don't cut their throats; you have to hit in the head with a hammer numerous times until it dies. It's reality. Now respect our choices and views.

Yeah but there are many different ways for humans to stay warm. I don't own any fur and I'm still nice and warm during the cold nights because of blankets/warm clothes/heating. The fur isn't worth torturing the animal when there are literally hundreds of other options to stay warm.

I'm aware of the methods used to kill animals for fur, and I obviously don't agree with them, but it's a bit hard to pinpoint what exactly goes on when there is sensationalist extremism like PETA.
It's also incredibly naive to assume slaughterhouse animals aren't tortured. They are. They shove rods into cows brains and stun them, and then shoot their foreheads, but often they remain alive. They sever cows spinal cords by pushing wires into their brains. They use electric tongs and send an electric current through their brains. You really think they're just euthanized?

Another thing, are you saying the hunted animals that Native Americans have killed and used the animals fur (along with the meat, but it wouldnt make sense with about im about to say) to stay warm at night, have to find a new way to stay warm, even though they have done this WAY before we had houses that heated and cooled?

I do agree that we can't assume everything that that is said by PETA isn't exaggerated and that we really don't know what goes on to get fur. I'm not proud to eat meat but my point of view still stands that fur is something that isn't necessary or practical. Meat isn't completely necessary but it is a lot more efficient to get protein/serves an actual purpose to humans.

Well, I'm talking about how me, my dad and grandpa did it at the ranch. But it's a very common way of doing it throughout the common people that don't have the tools the slaughterhouses have. I thing they just shoot them on their head with an air bolt pistol and they die really quick.

Fair enough. You're at least one of the more rational people to actually enter this thread.

No. I'm saying I think it's wrong to kill an animal with the sole purpose of getting fur. Obviously it was a little different back then since they didn't have overly insulated shelters so they needed the fur.

Thanks. I actually like seeing the other side of things sometimes. You can see how other people think and stuff. You don't condemn people for eating meat/having different beliefs, which is respectable.

I just get really uncomfortable eating meat. I just see flesh and carcass. It grosses me out. The meat industry being awful isn't really the point, but it sort of contributed I guess.
Seafood was just too good to pass up. Plus they're treated better.
