When the album dropped it jump to #1 on Itunes for 3 days. Over a month before it was a single. The only reason why it went #1 was because she had so much hype around her album and when people saw 3oh3 people just got excited.

Yeah, it only made sense to release it after its crazy success on iTunes. If her label hadn't made it a single, then they'd probably never hear the end of how much of a missed opportunity it was, haha. So I understand why it was chosen and I'm not mad about it or anything -- it was the most logical decision at the time and there was no way they could've known it wouldn't really live up to its early success.
I guess hindsight is always 20/20.
