I don't think its shade. Most songs are 3 chords. I mean Hank Williams Sr. entire career was based off the key of G and was almost always a G, C, D progression if I heard it right. It definitely doesn't mean that she only knows 3 chords but you need to stay in a certain key so that your vocals sound good and some singers can fit in many different keys but others maybe only one. Another example of an artist using only 3 chords would be Johnny Cash and even some of his songs only included two chords
but he was a key of E singer because his voice was so deep
