In fact many countries with English as the native language have problems speaking another language. And you know why? English is the lingua franca of the world (which is Latin for the world language). And even so, America has people that speak more than one language, Spanish and French are common ones in the more liberal parts of the country.

Yeah, true. It's stupid that I brought it up, anyway, but I just thought it was interesting. I sit here discussing with you in English, when in reality, I don't even speak or use English in my daily life.

Well, all those nations I listed have been intensely nationalistic at some period in their histories (namely, during their peaks). While nationalism definitely can cause wars, it can equally (or more greatly) contribute to prosperity.

Because in this day and age, we are all global citizens. How's the view from the bottom of that well sis?

That probably goes back to the constitution and the fact that it'd be virtually impossible for a dictator to take power as in Germany and Russia (though they'd always had a single, powerful leader).
I don't think that makes blind and/or extreme nationalism any better, though.

Why is it that me only knowing about American affairs is an issue?

Alright, that's totally true. I get that, that's a fair answer. But, like... knowing who the Canadian Prime Minister is is not going to help me at all.

Yeah but America is filled with everyone that originate all over the world so chances are that we already know a language other than English; however, it's not heavily stress during our early years of school.

I like America. I have so many reasons to drag this country but I honestly don't know where else I could call home. It's diverse enough. We are free to a certain extent of course. We definitely have the freedom others don't. We are one of the biggest if not the biggest. Our culture influences the world......I dare someone to try to deny it. People come here for opportunities not found anywhere else.
I have many reasons to hate this country, I still could never imagine living somewhere else. The flaws and ******** this country contains is something I doubt I could live without.

Probably much happier (and, therefore to me, better) than someone who keeps up with global affairs, to be honest.

I'm not pretending America is perfect. I know it isn't. I'm not being arrogant when I say I'm proud to live here and defending it.
I'm honestly asking. I'm not trying to fight with you... you could totally turn my viewpoint around right now.

One question, have you EVER left the US?

Well, remember that both Hitler and Mussolini rose legally using the constitutions already in place in their respective nations. Americans might be crazy, but they might also have a healthy concoction of nationalism and determination.

See, and that's okay. But that just means you get all your knowledge about us from the news or TV shows, and that's not necessarily accurate, so of course many of you will look at us negatively. But that's not fair.

US has lots of nationalism because they are taught it from children. After the US got into the Cold War with the Soviet Union they were pretty much told to believe they were the best nation on earth.
Still to this day, children have to recite the Pledge of Allegiance (a statement giving loyalty to the US) every morning before they start school. They don't question it but just do it. If you have that attitude from children to adulthood it never changes.

Don't other nations recite the equivalent of a pledge, too?

Why is it. that people always want to talk about the bad things in the US but never the good?
Why is it that people fail to mention the countries ethnic and racial diversity. Its huge contributions to the world in music, film, fashion, art, literature, and theater. Do people fail to forget its technological, industrial, economic advancements.
I can point out the negative in every country, and their positives.
