Rihanna is one of the artists who is overplayed, at the moment, she can take a long break, and still her records would be played...

turn the channel, turn the radio station. it's not her fault her music is popular and appeals to the masses.

you and I and everyone else knows there was no single gap between loud and TTT (WFL was released while Cheers was still climbing)
And rihanna wasn't absent from radio when Only Girl was released because LTWYL was still big

on a broader level, Pop girls struggle really when it comes to album sales now
Adele is another story...
|
Let's not, because 4 was DEFINITELY one of the best albums of 2011.

Exactly, so you just admitted that it struggled. You cannot just blame the fact that it had no hits. If it Struggled then it struggled

!!!!
With a lead single that spent 10 weeks atop the Hot 100.
The NERVE!
A Rih stan really should keep their opinion LITE when it's a discussion on album sales...

I like rihanna and all and I don't mean to shade when I say this but:
The reason she can put out albums every year is because she isn't hands on with them...if she were actually writing the songs and doing stuff she wouldn't be able to do so and still perform and promote

Let's see...worldwide, she's sold 9+ million over the last two years and had almost a dozen major hits. In the US, 2.6 is pretty outstanding too.
Should she change her strategy? Uh. no. Sounds like wishful thinking of the bothered.

but I mean, Rihanna can sell albums very well especially outside of the US, look at the UK, but she doesn't generally OWN it in the US market...
|
You're right, RiRi owns the UK (well, among international artists). Three of her last four albums have gone to No 1 here - Talk That Talk was released the same week as One Direction's album and still went to No 1. I think if she released another album at the end of the year, it would go to No 1 again.
However the US is a different matter. If she really cares about ever getting to No 1 on the BB200, she wouldn't keep releasing an album a year - and always in the busiest period of the year!
Seems like she doesn't really care about that US No 1 though, just about keeping herself constantly in the public eye.

I mean if 4 struggled to sale 1 million, released in the Summer without any Top 10, No Radio smash, hardly any airplay. What would you call an album that was release when sales are at they're biggest of the year with 1 single for 10 weeks, Top 10 Hit, great airplay and STILL haven't crossed 1 million?

Dude, That girl loves to get a #1 song, she always tweets everytime one of her songs reach #1 on billboard, and constanty she put twitlinks where people can download her song, she really gets excited.
So if this girl basically lives for a billboard #1 song, are you gonna tell me that she wouln't care if one of her albums reach #1 on billboard?

Let's not kid ourselves, the only reason 4 sold even that much was because it was pimped out by her pregnancy. 1.2 million from 2010-2012 is nothing special anyway.
