Blegh, I definitely don't hope or think so. Two reasons:
1. If she's been reading up on Madonna/inspired by her, then she knows to always evolve. She did it with TD and she's going to do it again (something completely different from both TD and OOTB).
2. 99.9% of a chance that she's working with M83, so that means alternative-electro music is in the bag.

If she's going to be edgy next era, then she needs to figure out how to replicate this. This is literally perfect. Not GOTHIC, try-hard, or over the top at all. It seems natural. I think it's more like old Hollywood glamour with a slightly dark twist. Perfect.

I think it is about her religious upbringing but she can also use it to intepret it differently, aka record label vs her own vision, choosing between a strong personal life and a strong professional life.

Well songs can have multiple meanings. I think the religious connection was just the most obvious (at least to fans), so Katy wanted to show a different side of it.

I think so. But I think most of the album will be electro. Alternative electro, like M83. But also dance like Calvin and maybe Luke (if she's still working with him?)
Luke and his team are practically guaranteed to have at least a few songs on there.
