Think of it like this...
When a belt is placed forward and it's centered, the sound is audible and it has this bright and ringing quality to it. Much like a bell. When the belt is throaty, it sounds clouded and inconsistent to everything else that is sang, giving it a very forced and grating quality. I'm not saying Florence sounds like this, I'm just speaking in general.

Probably people voting against Bey. As a committed Flo stan I know she never got vocal training, so she isn't going to have better technique than someone who has been training since she was a tween. Unfortunately this will devolve into Flo bashing when the mass of the Beyhive arrives, I fear.

She wasn't pitchy in that performance, albeit she was practically screaming at some points.

3:10 onwards didn't seem throaty to me at all. A lot of her others belts in the video did, though.

It's a known fact that an uneven vibrato is bad. An overly fast vibrato is known as a tremolo, an overly slow one is known as a wobble. Both are signs of vocal tension and faulty production.

And you just showed how poorly coordinated her registers are. She didn't even negotiate from head to chest properly. Not a very balanced or connected sound.

Stop changing your terminologies. Fast vibrato =/= uneven vibrato. Tremolo is a vocal technique; it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I guess I'm deaf because it seemed well-supported to me, and I regularly criticize belts that aren't resonant. But you appear to have more knowledge than me so I'll take your word for it.

I didn't even notice Flo was breathy until Harmonic pointed it out tbh.
