I don't know why you keep saying it's a sleeper hit or underdog hit ! It's in no way a sleeper hit !!! Pitbull is coming off huge singles & he is known worldwide ! He also had the movie to help it out !!
The movie's buzz already faded, yet BIT is surviving. Now, Back in time has broken the record of being the least played song in the top 10 on iTunes.
However, back in time hasn't burned out cause radio hasn't overplayed it, so I still hope, BIT has a second wind, now that HOt AC radio is picking it.
There's a difference between a single being a sleeper hit and a single surpassing expectations !! Right now BIT is surpassing expectations but it had decent expectations to begin with therefore not making it an underdog hit
An underdog hit is a single that performs well not having high or any expectations ! That's why 'sleeper' hit is a term used as well
