+13 !
the albums is going to be amazing! its the singles i worry about!
i'm pretty sure she's gonna try to do an enchanted 2.0 though she must have known that it was a fan favourite!
the album should be wholesome, like speak now! one theme, common motive ! if the album is about a "crash-and-burn heartbreak" , and she dare not put a song about, "raise your hands in the air" or "follow your dreams"

I trust Taylor to make the music that she wants to make, and to make it well.
That said, I think she's still going to have a blend of various genres on the next album; I only hope that the songs fit together better than those on Speak Now.

With Ed collaboration, she can easily get platinum certification in UK
Maybe it will be her 2nd or 3rd single

Actually Carrie can debut at the top, but with her next album, i start to doubt.
Shania Twain was a HUGE seller during her heydays, where the heck is she now ?
If you can t take a look at yourself and still do the same old country pop music, you d be out of the game.

To be honest, I think Taylor should do include 2 radio hits on the album. Speak Now proved she is a genius.
I'm not blaming Shania, purely because she took a long break for personal problems.

I think she collaborated with Ed because:
1. Fan
2. Voice
3. Help breakthrough the UK after Love Story. I think she knows it's one of her weakest fan base considering it was her only tour place to not sell out throughout the entire Speak Now World Tour

I think there will be a Enchanted 2.0 considering it will detail the rise and fall of a relationship. It would have to be included near the beginning though.
If it's the second track on the album, hello single.

And if she wants her 1st N°1 song, she just doesn t need to avoid a competition with blockbusters such as Gotye, Fun or Carly, she needs to be the blockbuster...
Btw I don t get why Lady Antebellum is so successful, yes Need You Now is a true smash and some singles are great American Honey & Dancing Away With My Heart but the rest D:
Sugarland (better album tracks) > Lady Antebellum (better singles) however Stuck Like Glue > Need You Now

She's currently losing at this time. But I see it as nothing that we should worry about. It's just a phase on a very long journey. "What goes up, must comes down", that's just the way it is. She will bounce back.
She needs to reinvent herself. Moving away from the bland Country/Pop to Americana. It's the middle road where she can get best of both worlds.
I know she's smart, but the last thing she needs is 'YES'-men.
I don't care if she became a flop at this point. I will stay listening to her because she makes music the way how she wants it to sound instead of what the public wants.

It's good to see your fave became successful. But not when it became more about the marketing than the actual music. I still believe that good music will sell just by word of mouth.
And let's not forget that 'word of mouth' is still the best marketing way ever. That's why LP1 & LP2 have more longevity on chart than LP3 (which is more about hype).

Yes good music always sells by word of mouth. There are many artists who are remembered today who never even had a top 10 album. Etta James is the biggest example as the queen of blues but none of her albums ever charted in the top 50. In fact her highest charting album was At LAst and that happened after her death but she is beloved by millions of people and far more legendary than many of the artists with huge tours, many multi-platinum albums, and huge single success because she was all about the music and the people who were fans of her got their kids to be fans and the cycle will continue forever because the music is good. This is what I want for Taylor is to not be forgotten years from now. She could have a diamond album but if the music isn't good it will be forgotten years from now. Of course I want chart success but normally good music leads to chart success for artists like Taylor so I don't want catchy generic singles for Taylor just to have a hit song but if she can pull off a STIUTK or a RITD or a Enter Sandman in that the song is artistic but also a hit song I'd be totally fine with that. No more Mine or TSOU queen Taylor

Lyrically I like both but I'm not here for the generic sound of either one of them.

Yeah, Story is very well written, Mine is satisfying. But yes, they are common songs, nothing special.

My friend bought Bieber's album and we listened to it. Nothing special, but it does show he's growing up, despite the common lyrics. They even mentioned Selena.
I know Disco loves him, she must be listening to this pop masterpiece over and over again.

My fave is the best example of 'words of mouth' marketing. Having a very strong cult following after 30 years. Just look at Joy Division's chart run, their highest charting single was "Love Will Tear Us Apart", at #6. Only 2 albums in, but got everyone worship at least one album by them. I want Taylor to be that kind of artists instead of the glitzy, glamorous, all smoke & mirrors ****.

“Later on there will definitely be a huge temptation for me to make an alt-country record, something edgier and a little darker,” Ms. Swift said. But for now she’ll stick with what she knows, or knew: “songs that can be some sort of consolation for what people my age go through.

Well, the theme is sadness, why not? She'll probably incorporate it onto the album and rock someday as Scott said. Could have some rock with this album.
But since the near beginning is speculated to be happy, I want pianos, ukuleles and maybe a harp...
