slay with the music not with the marketing. Look at Alan #2 on the Billboard 200 without even a top 25 country hit. the music will sell to the fans as long as its good. Marketing is only essential during debut era or breakthrough era. I mean its still important to attract new fans but you don't want to do it so much so as to annoy the people who are already fans.

and i m not saying her to become all marketing, but would you have hated if, say, mine(or sparks fly ) got a trailer and promo like this? giving great video and trailer does NOT mean becoming a sellout!

Not feeling "Wide Awake". At all. Personal preference.

Let's not categorize things to black & white only, shall we? I don't need a slick and expensive MV to promote the song. Hell I already hate to say the word 'promote' here. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is still able to get Joy Division new fans despite the GOD ****ING AWFUL MV. That's a little example. No need to build the hype to high heaven, get it? See what happened to Joanne & BTW. Matchbox Twenty's lyrics video for their new song ("She's So Mean") is enough for me for example.
