He won't bend because then his whole speech about taking bending away is flawed. "Benders shall be no more! Meanwhile as I blood bend the Avatar and her friend" I think when Amon takes away bending it's for good. When Aang did it to Fire Lord Ozai in the finale, there was that big blue light. But when Aang took Yakone's bending, there was no light, just like there is no light when Amon does it. None of the Earth benders or Tahno will get their bending back.

I think the big blue light was either just for dramatic effect or because it was Aang's first time Energybending. Or it could be that because Ozai was extremely powerful, the red vs. blue light was meant to be seen as Aang and Ozai having a battle of wills.

I agree, people are looking way into the whole "dramatic light" thing. Aang was 40 years old when he took bending away again. You would think he was more in control of it than when he took Ozai's away. He was in the avatar state when he did it too.

I believe Korra will be able to restore all the bending that Anom took away.

If Amon is a spirit though, that complicates things. I don't know if Korra will be able to restore what it has done.

I really like the idea of the story, but after this episode, it's apparent that there are more than a few problems.

1. The character development is seriously awful. AWFUL. The relationships between Mako/Korra/Asami have been so poorly developed, which makes this whole love triangle seem dumb as hell.
2. To expand on the first point, Asami especially, has been poorly developed and was strangely out of character this episode. I really don't want her character to be reduced to the "jealous girlfriend" but it looks like that's what's going to happen.
3. The political angle was interesting at first but the concerns of non-benders haven't been properly addressed at any point. I mean, the whole city council is made of benders. Isn't that a legitimate power imbalance? I can forgive this though, since there's still time to address this.

Korra/Tenzin/Lin need to be the real Team Avatar. And Amon is probably the best character in the show.
